Anyone see the new Elvis movie?

Post by daytime dave » Tue Sep 13, 2022 1:26 pm

I happened to be looking for something to watch last night and tried out the new Elvis movie. It was long, but I liked it. It was told through Col. Parker's perspective mostly. I happened to like how the story wove back and forth throughout the film. I don't know if it was true to the facts, but it was a good movie, it was entertaining and held my interest the entire film.

I thought Tom Hanks did a great role at the Col and the actor who played Elvis was very good. It stayed away from heavy Elvis mostly, which is more of how I remember him. Still, all in all I liked it.

What did anyone else think?

Gonna have to check that one out. Picked up one at the RedBox today for Carol; " Where the Crawdads Sing ". She read the book and loved it. Was just released today, so I did my good deed and picked it up for her. Supposed to be good. 5 star rating.

Same here, none of his music appealed to me.

I mentioned checking it out, which I might do for something to look at, however, I kinda agree with you guys. Got it drummed into my head a bit because my ex-wife was crazy about him.
I give him credit for his notoriety and fame, but....

I had a cousin who was crazy for him.

I've tried to appreciate a lot of different music but I only really like Classic Rock, late 60's, 70's and 80's. I can listen to some Classical, some Pop (very little) and some Folk and Blues. Other than some Country Rock and some Johnny Cash and a very few others I can completely do without Country.

Country Rock..yup! One of my favorites was Marshal Tucker. Beyond that, I'm totally with you on the Classic Rock. It is my go to channel on my SiriusXM.

The movie has caught my attention, but not sure when I'll get to see it. Maybe when it arrives on antenna TV someday. I'm an old Elvis fan from way back and especially like his Rock-A-Billy days.

I agree, today's Country isn't country anymore. I prefer the old stuff.
