Henry 410 X Model

Post by graywolf » Mon Jul 18, 2022 9:58 pm

It was hot. But I wanted to at least shoot a few rounds. I made do with what I could get together fairly fast for targets. Hope you can zoom in to see. The target with the 2 bullseyes was using a peep sight adjusted all way down. Shooting high so I took it back off. Rest were shot just like it came. Also using the full choke it came with.

I"ll have to shoot some slugs before deer season. I been using the 410 with slugs last 5-6 years for deer. I got to sight it in with slugs before then. I sight in with slugs at 25 yds. The big thing is, I only have 2-1/2 boxes of slugs.

Shot a couple more times today with a extended full choke installed. Tightened the pattern just a little, but not enough to brag about.

With a red dot and a turkey choke that x model would make a nice turkey gun.

I have the turkey choke in the Mossberg pump that will fit. Going to swap them out and shoot it with the turkey choke to see how much it may tighten the pattern. My Grandson was already planning to use the Mossberg next spring to shoot a turkey. Now he will have choice between Henry or Mossberg. He already has them with 12, 16, and 20 gauge. He wants one with the 410.

Funny, my Henry 410 chokes fit my Mossberg, but my Mossberg choke won't fit my Henry's.

I've been shooting the Full extended choke in the Henry that I had in the Mossberg. Today I put the XF choke that came with the Mossberg in the Henry. Afterwards, I put the Full extended back in the Henry. I haven't tried the Henry choke in the Mossberg.

I would guess the Mossberg is sloppily made.

Full Choke and 7-1/2 shot. I shot the turkey target to send to my Grandson. He loves his turkey hunting. This combination along with some #8's is what I will be using mostly starting next month on squirrels.
