Henry Forum on a PC vs cell phone
I finally broke down and bought a PC. A few months back I bought an Apple but didn't like the keypad so I don't use it much. I like the security on the Apple better than a PC so I only use it for banking and purchasing. To post on here I was just using my cell phone. It was nice to be able to take a picture and post it right away without having to download it yet the text part was a real pain. Using the PC for posting is tons easier as long as I don't post a picture. Kind of dumb and expensive to have three devices to do everything.

Re: Henry Forum on a PC vs cell phone
I like the pc for looking at the photos and such on here and other places, and general all around use.
But if I want to post pics. it's much easier from the phone.
Either on here, fb, or through tap a talk app that I use for a couple other forums.
I've helped folks here and a couple of forums with pics, with the phone.
On the phone it will safe you time typing as you know.
So I use both at home mostly the laptop, unless I want to post a pic.

Gene, I’m in your boat. I’m typing this on an Ipad that has a computer sized screen and I have a keyboard attached for typing. I use my I phone for taking pictures and they transfer to this I pad automatically. And finally, I have a Mac laptop computer that I use for banking and other financial tasks such as taxes.
Crazy but true.
I really like the convenience of using the I phone and I pad. For me, simple is best.

Gene as I recall you have an Iphone also dont you? When I take a pic with the phone its easy to send it to the PC via the airdrop. Then it can be posted to the forum very fast. Maybe you know that already.

I bought a nice Nikon to use with my spotting scope. I plan to use the Nikon more for forum use also. It’s ten times as much work yet I get twenty times the quality.

Re: Henry Forum on a PC vs cell phone
I always have problems posting pictures to the forum from my cell. Don't know but they just won't go through or are rejected. I always have to send my phone pics to myself through the email app and then download to my PC finally uploading to the forum.

Can you connect your phone to your computer with a USB cable and then download the photos? That's what I do, seems easier than emailing them. I believe there's an app on my PC to connect to my phone with Wi-Fi but it's easier to just plug it in.Shakey Jake wrote: ↑Sun Jul 17, 2022 11:50 amI always have problems posting pictures to the forum from my cell. Speaking of computers I built mine around 10 years ago as a fairly powerful gaming computer, I don't game anymore so it's more than adequate for everything I do. I guess I have 3 more years of support for Win10 but it makes me mad that Win11 doesn't support my CPU even though it is more powerful than many of the newer CPU's that it does support. At least I won't have to buy a new computer (which I think is Microsoft and computer makers goal), I'll just have to buy a new motherboard and CPU. I'll probably have to buy Win11 too. I had to buy Win10 because I waited past the date for the free update from Win7.
Re: Henry Forum on a PC vs cell phone
Back in 2015 I switch to Apple with a MacBook and my iPhone. Any pictures I take on my iPhone automatically sync back to my MacBook. The only issue I found with uploading pictures is the naming that Apple uses. To upload to the forum I have to move the picture to my desktop and simply change the suffix from .jpeg to .jpg. Then the forum likes that and they upload from my desktop.
Once the pictures are synced from my phone I can delete them from there and they remain on my laptop. That way I can save storage space on my phone.

I am with you Gene. I love to use my Canon DSLRs. I have to then load them onto the computer and then I manually add them to my Flickr account. The phone automatically sends the photographs to Flickr.
I have used my phone to do admin things on the forum, but choose not to as it's easier on a PC. I like my iPads, but don't look at the forum on them.
I don't think I have ever put a picture on the forum directly from my phone.

Re: Henry Forum on a PC vs cell phone
I switched from a computer to a cell about five years ago because it’s so much easier. What I’m finding is the quality of my photographs have gone down tremendously.daytime dave wrote: ↑Sun Jul 17, 2022 7:10 pmI am with you Gene. I love to use my Canon DSLRs. Thanks Al, my wife and I use Airdrop when we transfer photos from phone (or ipad) to phone. My phone automatically transfers to my Ipad which I really like. It’s so much easier for me to make posts using my Ipad for typing with the added keyboard I use and then being able to just simply select the picture and adding it.BigAl52 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 10:25 amYou can use airdrop also Mike. Gene, I like some of the pictures people can take on their phones, but I agree, the quality isn't the same. I stopped carrying a small digital camera and just use my phone for off the cuff photo-0ps.
