Today at my LGS

Post by bandit1250 » Fri Oct 14, 2016 7:43 pm

I went to my LGS today to get some large rifle primers and they were out of my brand. Didn't look at any used guns as I needed to avoid the temptation. Well in come a guy who used to work there and he was carrying two red towels and laid them down on the counter. I wasn't interested in looking until he said he had two Remington 700 stocks for sale. They was a ADL long and a ADL short. So I looked at the long and didn't really need a long action stock. Then I unwrapped the short one and I thought this would make a nice hunting stock for the Classic 250 Savage Dad left me. So I asked the price and he said $50 but to you it's $40. So I didn't buy a complete rifle but I did buy a nice stock. :)

Nice looking stock. I've noticed the table in a few of your pictures. Looks like a 60's vintage table. Do you have the chairs to go with it?

Don't have the chairs. A friend of mine had it in his basement and was going to pitch it so I said I would take it. We had the exact same table at home when I was in grade school around '58. He told me that this table was bought around '56. I guess I was lucky it still had the leaf with it. I have cut up a lot of deer on this table. Makes a handy place to pile my stuff on from the range until I put everything back where it belongs.

I bet if you look closely to the underside you will find the manufacturing date.
