I plan to breakout a couple of smoke tubes and use them to cold smoke some cheese, salt, and other such things .... haven't done that in several years

Re: 2022 Trip To South Dakota
I read somewhere that the smoke tubes were overkill so I havent bought any yet. Curious as to what you think of them and are they worth it. We just did a pork butt a week ago and it came out great. I am now using the apple pellets and I think I like them the best.

Re: 2022 Trip To South Dakota
with a decent smoker/grill I don't see any need for a smoker tube .... what I do use them for is "cold smoking" items like cheese that can't be hot smoked .... for that they work well

Re: 2022 Trip To South Dakota
another beautiful morning in east central South Dakota .... 71 with a light breeze on its way to 87 .... no rain in the forecast until well after midnight .... one of the things we enjoy out here is family members dropping by .... making their own pizza is a favorite .... even the youngest member of the family enjoys supervising the process

Re: 2022 Trip To South Dakota
as forecasted by AccuWeather, shortly after 2AM a strong thunderstorm rumbled through .... strong, almost continuous, flashes of lightening could be seen for thirty or so minutes before the first rumble of thunder could be heard .... when it finally arrived, it dumped a short but heavy deluge of rain .... they say more rain will fall this morning but it sure doesn't show on the statewide radar .... no major plans for today and with a forecasted RealFeel® 101°, that's a good thing
Re: 2022 Trip To South Dakota
Partly cloudy and 70 degrees this morning, had a thunderstorm roll through and dump rain. High is 87 and quite humid, everybody have a great day!

Re: 2022 Trip To South Dakota
we awoke to a windy morning in east central SD .... high today in the low 80's but the forecast is calling for major heat over the weekend ... our tank sensor monitor is failing .... a replacement should arrive tomorrow .... I've never messed with one so I have no clue as to how complicated the replacement will be

Re: 2022 Trip To South Dakota
overnight rain left plenty of puddles on the pavement .... more is predicted before the clouds move on in a couple of hours .... a 40+ mile round shopping trip drive to Brookings is on tap .... diesel cost makes us plan such trips so as to get the most out of them .... Friday morning our daughter and her son are scheduled to fly from home to Sioux Falls .... that necessitates a 140+ mile round trip which will have to be repeated to take them back on Saturday of next week .... on both trips we plan to leave Sioux Falls with our truck's tanks full of diesel .... its much cheaper down there than it is in the area around where we are camped ....

Re: 2022 Trip To South Dakota
earlier today I replaced another OEM part of our '06 Titan camper .... that being the tank monitor panel .... the white portion seen below in the yellowed frame is what we replaced .... about all I can say is there is absolutely no way I'd attempt to wire one of these panels from scratch .... doing so is way above my ability level .... the instructions were written for a scratch wire so there were of no help .... bottom line there is a plug with several wires that I had to figure out .... after looking at it, there were to possible ways that made sense .... I got it to work following the second try ...

Re: 2022 Trip To South Dakota
another beautiful but typically windy morning in east central South Dakota .... 67 on its way to 81 with a low tonight of 55 .... such temps will soon be a memory because the forecast for Saturday, Sunday and Monday shows triple digit highs .... big weekend on tap .... Estelline's annual Rodeo ===> http://www.estellinerodeo.com/index.html is scheduled for Friday and Saturday .... our daughter and her 6 year old son are due to fly into Sioux Falls from NC Friday morning .... we will make the 140+ mile round trip to pick them up ... he's signed up to ride a sheep Saturday night ..
.. for anyone interested, the sign below is posted in Estelline's campground

Re: 2022 Trip To South Dakota
If the utilities are included in the $20 that’s the bargain of the century.

Re: 2022 Trip To South Dakota
that is the daily rate and it most certainly includes utilities .... as with most campgrounds, they do discount site fees for weekly reservations .... specifically, $100 for a 7 day week .... that rate has been in effect since the park was built .... for us the bottom line is we can't stay at home and run our home for that .... driving out here cost the same thing for being here a few minutes as it does for a few months .... that's a primary reason we stay out here as long as possible

Re: 2022 Trip To South Dakota
I've mentioned South Dakota wind several times .... per AccuWeather, right now a steady 21 mph wind out of the WNW with gust to 43 mph
Re: 2022 Trip To South Dakota
Thats a bargain for sure. But your prior post concerning the monitor is one of my pet peeves with RV's. Those monitor gauges are a total joke in my book. There functionality only gives one a guideline. You better not put to much faith in there accuracy. With all the advancements in the RV industry I cant figure out why someone hasnt come up with a level indicator that works.

$600 a month for rent is a bargain. Especially when it is with utilities.
