Class of 71. Went to my 50th last year for about an hour. I haven't been to a reunion since 1986 and knew almost no one. Also read the long list of those no longer with us which was shocking. I have kept in contact with the people who meant something to me but the rest really didn't matter. I can't handle the "important" people who want everyone to know how special and successful they are. I am content with where I am right now.

I graduated in 72 from Mainland Sr High School in Daytona Beach Florida. The school was just down the street from the Daytona International Speedway. Our graduating class was so big that we had to have graduation in two separate nights. I wouldn't mind going to my reunion this summer, but doubt I'll be able to make it.

A stark contrast to my high school graduating class of 52 students. It was a small farming community for sure. There are high schools within a five mile radius of me that are quadruple the population of my small town. I think the population of the town was 1,050 or near to it during the decade I graduated. A lot of us drove from rural farms to go to school or take the bus. I usually drove or bummed a ride with someone. The bus would drop/pickup off about a half mile from the house and I didn't like walking that distance home.

Class of 75 here, a mere youngster. I have yet to attend any reunions and probably won’t ever do so. No issues with them just not my cup of tea so to speak.

Annie Greensprings, dave77 mentioned it before I had a chance to. That and the Boones Farm were our go to’s for the girls in our party group. Us guys mostly just drank beer and we had a nickname for those cheap sweet wines that I won’t mention as this is a family friendly website.

Found this, will have to try the recipe. While I don't really care for the taste of straight beer I love Red Beer. I usually make mine with Clamato and a dash of Frank's Red Hot.

2 quarts tomato juice
3 tablespoons freshly grated horseradish root, or to taste
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon celery salt
2 tablespoons Worchestershire sauce
juice of one lime
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 six pack of lager beer, or the beer of our choice

Combine all ingredients except the beer in a large pitcher.
Fill a beer mug, glass or mason jar 1/3 full with the Red Draw mix. Fill the rest of the way with beer.

As an aside. I went to my 20th reunion. Several folks there were talking about having been contacted by a company to either sell or rent them their junior year yearbook. Turns out Denzel Washington attended my high school that year for about half the year. The company provided pictures of famous people before they were famous. When I got home, I dug mine out. Sure enough there was a picture of him. I may have even had a class with him, and just don't remember it.

The German cafes in the neighboring towns just took draft beer and added just enough tomato juice to be tasted. When we filled our mugs, we would salt it to taste. I remember that was like the energy drinks of today. We always woke up refreshed and ready to tackle those 100* days and 175 * tin barns.
