That’s a nice looking fleet you’re putting together.

My son recently moved out rural and I’ve been giving him a hand with some chores he’s not equipped to handle. He’s learning quickly that having the right tools makes a big difference between getting something done and getting something done efficiently.

Back when we had horses at our last place I always called myself a “rancher” rather than “farmer” that others called me. I figured if I didn’t break the soil I wasn’t a farmer. Now breaking soil to creat a shooting berm that’s different.

Gene you need a big fat Magnolia tree in the middle of it to take up the rest of your spare time plus one rake!

I need to remove one tree and expand my berm to the left. And I need to dig it out more. I’m not skilled enough to use the front bucket on the tractor so I’ll be digging it out by hand.

It rained all day yesterday and most of the night. This morning the visibility is low because of fog. Too wet to plow and too foggy to shoot.

I farm about a 20 acre dove field and plant lots of food plots. Plow fire lanes around my timber. Push brush back to widen my roads and maintain my 1/4 mile driveway. My 50 hp John Deere is as handy as my right hand. I have all the implements to go with it. Only burn't gun powder smells better than diesel smoke and fresh turned earth.

To post a pic,

First: know where your pic is located in your computer. It will help when you get to that point.

Select " Full Editor and Preview ". Scroll down, then select, " Attachments ". Then select, " Add Files " select, " Files ". Then get your pic from wherever you have it whether it's in Photos, Gallery, Downloads, etc.
Select the pic.
At the bottom, look for the pic # to show up and wait for the prompt to " Place in Line ". Select " Place in Line ", and then "Submit"

You buy overalls yet? Here, they have daily wear they pick up off the floor beside the bed and put back on, and town overalls, you know, for going into town. I have a couple pairs I haven't broken in yet due to range of motion issues in my shoulders, but I'm gettin there. They will work out fine around the farm.

I wear cutoffs in the summer and don’t think cutoff bibs are very manly.

I just spent half the day on the lawn mower. I’m surprised at the power it has. The 26hp cut through tall dense grass going up a steep hill with no problem.

This may sound funny the neighbor had to tell me how to sit on the mower. I was leaning towards the uphill side and he told me to offset even further. I was at the extreme edge of the seat and barely touching it and had my foot fully extended to touch the foreword pedal. It really made a difference and I was able to traverse mow. Then it got so steep I had to go up and down. What a workout to mow the full four acres of lawn.

Tomorrow I get the farm girls to help me for two hours. They think $20 each is a fortune. That and pizza and soda pop. They don’t get that at home so it’s a real treat.

It's definitely a workout. Miss T had to top the pastures yesterday too. Bit bigger mower. But, a little more to cut. Of course she has to cut down in the dell by the creek to keep the snakes down, and under the pecans in the orchard because... (...she loves driving her tractor.)

Glad you got er done. Be very careful. A rollover is a dangerous thing Sir. You're hanging right on the edge following the slope, thinking, "I got this nailed, I'm getting good." Then the downhill wheel drops in a hole you didn't see hidden in the grass.

You remember that whoops feeling in the pit of your stomach when you are balanced on the back legs of your chair... and then not?

Miss T stays on me about the tractor... She made her living on one, I'm learning.
