Tornado Video

Post by JEBar » Sat Apr 30, 2022 6:16 pm

last night I sat up watching coverage of tornadoes in a front passing through Kansas .... during part of that coverage they mentioned exceptional video from a drone being operated by one of their storm chasers .... I just found that video (link below) and it most certainly lives up to the hype

Whoa! That did NOT look like fun to be around. Lane of destruction, everything else, untouched. Those things are bizarre.

Wow that is very scary! Looks like a giant vacuum sucking everything up! How does the drone stay so stable?

for the most part the drone stayed a good distance away .... they did say on the night of the tornadoes it got knocked down and he was lucky to find it later

I was figuring it was probably a stable distance away. Perhaps with a zoom lens.
Don't have a clue what those things cost, but glad it was recovered.

this video covers the same tornado coverage as seen above but it adds storm chaser video and audio

New compilation (link below) from the Andover, KS EF3 tornado intercept on April 30, 2022 including Dominator Drone and ground perspectives. Audio has been softened for the faint of heart. Miraculously, no lives were lost from this tornado despite immense damage and nearly 1000 structures impacted.

Mother Nature saying get off my lawn! have experienced 2 first hand. One small spinning in the sky. And another went overhead but pelted us with baseball sized hail. The silver lining is that we needed a new roof!

Wow, that tornado video at 5:33 almost doesn't look real, like it's CGM in a movie. Can't imagine being in it's path. I live in a area that's pretty well protected from natural disasters, 50mph wind gusts are a pretty big deal here.
