Re: Davy Crockett Smoker/Grill
like I've said many times, I like the 3-2-1 method .... like I've also said, using it the ribs get done way too early .... I haven't tried a temp variation like yours .... that is something I'm going to have to take a look at ... info appreciated
Re: Davy Crockett Smoker/Grill
How do you cook your ribs?
I’ve only had my smoker for a month or so. I’m interested in other techniques.

Re: Davy Crockett Smoker/Grill
there are some really good recipes in this forum's cooking area .... the way we do baby back ribs starts on page 6 of this thread ===> http://henryrifleforums.com/viewtopic.p ... 1&start=50 ....
Re: Davy Crockett Smoker/Grill
Here’s the rack system we sell. It might not be the exact one pimp my grill sells but it’s basically the same thing.

Re: Davy Crockett Smoker/Grill
well, its here .... we've already burned it in ... tomorrow morning our plan is to burn it with the pizza oven installed .... assembling the grill was no problem .... getting the WiFi hooked up has already taken three calls to customer service .... on the plus side, all of the service folks have been a pleasure to work with

Re: Davy Crockett Smoker/Grill
looks like I'll get another chance to speak with GMG customer service this morning .... went out to fire it up and simply can't get it going .... don't know if our 55 degree temp is the issue or not

Re: Davy Crockett Smoker/Grill
well, those of us old enough to remember watching HEE HAW will probably recall the line "if it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all" .... went out this morning to burn-in pizza oven that fits into our new Davy Crockett Smoker .... ran the startup sequence 3 times and when the internal temp would reach about 100 degrees, she'd shut down .... call Green Mountain customer service ... after answering several diagnostic questions I put my phone on speaker and started the grill .... with their Rep listening she got up 148 and shut down .... he didn't like the sound of the auger or fan .... a single unit with and emailed How To video and all hardware needed to replace the parts he feels are bad should be leaving the west coast later today .... he said it could take up to 10 days to get here ... till then our grill will be sitting under a cover in the garage

Re: Davy Crockett Smoker/Grill
yep, that's about sums it up .... Al, having seen the innards of a Traveler, you were dead on in your assessment of having to replace its auger .... contrast that with this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjM9tup5v5o that deals with replacing one in a Davy Crockett
Re: Davy Crockett Smoker/Grill
I will check that out soon but SH and I did 870 miles today and we are currently in Miles City MT. Going to get to sleep

Re: Davy Crockett Smoker/Grill
Trager, ASMOKE, Traveler and the other portable camping smoker grills I know of are wired for 110 or 120 AC .... our GMG Davy Crockett is wired for 12V .... it comes with a standard110 power cord that runs into a gizmo the turns it into 12V, a second 12V power cord with male cigarette lighter plugs on both ends, and third power cord with alligator clips on one end and a female cigarette lighter plug on the other.... for a smoker marketed to use camping, that makes a good deal of sense

Re: Davy Crockett Smoker/Grill
just got word that the replacement auger assembly has been shipped by FedEx and should be here Friday .... if that proves to be correct, I fully intend to put Davy through his paces this weekend ..

Re: Davy Crockett Smoker/Grill
as seems to have become the norm with FedEx, their shipment tracking is pathetic at best ... it shows our order departed the FedEx location in Troutdale, OR a 4:16PM on Friday, April 29, 2022 .... as this is being typed it is 9AM on May 3, 2022 and nothing else is shown on their tracking .... oh well, at least we know it's on the way
