65 on its way to 71 with thunderstorms on the way .... another day with various trips taking us in various directions .... breakfast is in the rear view mirror, Folgers still very much in the present .... we plan to camp with our club this weekend, getting our gear ready will start between showers later today

Busy day yesterday . Started off having to get a cow up with calving trouble. Had a calf coming backwards which is often a bad deal.. and it was... I did get her in corral and snubbed down to a big post with a rope twisted around her nose into a halter and put on pullers and got calf out. It was already dead, but cow appears to be ok

When I was young I worked on a ranch where the owner had several hundred head of Polled Shorthorns. There were horses, but our mount of choice was Ford tractors with loaders. We would have one guy in the snow bucket with the ear tattoo pliers and the other drive. We'd scoop in the new calves and raise them up while the herd would surround us wanting to protect the calf. Once the ear was tattooed we'd lower the bucket, release the calf and slowly back out.

Yup, I've helped pull calves as well. Not fun but usually the calf would live if we got to the cow in time.

Along with the cattle herd he also had hundreds of steers and heifers in a dry lot feeding them out on ground corn for the prime beef market.

28 now with frost but we should see the 50’s and sunshine today.

My wife has a doc appt out in the Spokane Valley today and due to the meds she taking right now (shingles) I need to drive her. So while she’s getting looked at I will stop into a couple of gun shops out in the valley that I don’t get to very often. Kinda looking for a double stack 9mm with a steel or aluminum frame. As of July 1 we Washingtonians will no longer be able to purchase magazines with a capacity greater than ten. Would love to pick up the new Springfield SA-35 updated High Power but there’re pretty hard to find.

It was a cool 53° this morning. That was 20° colder than yesterday morning. Cooked sausage, eggs, toast and coffee. I'm going to try to get to the range to shoot some .22 today. Heck, I may even go out again tomorrow with something else. Hope everyone has a great day.

It has snowed another three inches since last night. I don’t remember reading about April snow in the Wisconsin Visitors Brochure!

Got up early this morning as I had to go get my eye injections. I just ate a bowl of cereal and apple before I left. Eye doc wants to change what he plunges in there the next time. He's been giving me Lucentis and want to start me on Eylea

I really don't care one way or the other, but he thinks he can cut down the number of times I have to go get them.

I went in yesterday for photocoagulation in my left eye. Didn't care much for the lidocaine injections in my eye. Had to wear a patch until this morning. No pain at all from the laser blasts but my eye is still very red, slightly irritated and a little blurry. Sure felt good to take the patch off this morning, would hate to have to wear one for a long time.

Asked the doctor about the eye injections and he said I didn't need them now and hopefully would never need them. Between being better with my diet and starting on Ozempic I got my A1C down to 7.5 from 8.2, I get it checked again in a couple of weeks and hopefully will be even closer to 7.

Had two other cows calve yesterday the correct way, and those babies are up and running around and yesterday evening and another one just starting to have a few pains so should have another one this morning. So, more adventure than I care for. It was the first glitch I've had in calving all spring, and hopefully will be the last.....

I think there is a saying that if you have livestock you will have dead stock.
Sounds like you are having a good calving overall and at least you saved the cow. I am currently 75% through lambing my sheep, had to give 3 a hand so far, one backwards that was dead another that had a front leg folded back that I managed to get out alive and another that was just extremely big. Have had them on a diet since January but they seem to get fat on dirt so getting the odd big single lamb.
Currently 51 with wind gusts to around 12mph, half inch of rain overnight, just waiting for daylight so I can go do my morning rounds. Still getting days in the mid 60's-70's so not overly hard on the ewes or lambs.

My A1C has never been above 6. I have RVO causing macular edema rather than macular degeneration. The doctor says I'm an enigma because I'm not diabetic, don't have high blood pressure, and don't have high cholesterol. His best guess it's something hereditary.

39° and cloudy. Rain this evening. Just brewed the 1st cup. Nobody is stirring yet. Just going to piddle around today. All caught up on work. Finished my amp repair, and tested yesterday. Made a contact in Quebec, and got a good report. Cheers!

Unlikely but fortunately I don’t think there are many kids on this site. Us graybeards understand…

38 heading to somewhere in the 50’s with a slight chance of rain and a greater chance of winds. Tomorrow starts a cool down with lows below freezing and highs in the low 40’s. Just when I was thinking of turning my sprinklers on.

After several days of running around like chickens with out heads removed I “think” we will get to stay home today. Got to get out and finish up my clean up. I serviced my mower yesterday so was able to run it over the lawn as a vacuum. Today’s more raking and putting the winter equipment away and getting the summer stuff out.

I ordered another SimpliSafe Camera and it's supposed to come today, so I'll probably program and mount that.

57 degrees with a 20% chance of rain .... later today we are due to head out on a camping weekend with our club .... we decided to haul off our trash first thing and guess what ..???? .. half way there it started to ran, a couple of miles down the rain pea size hail joined in .... the trash never got to the dumping station but we did manage to pickup our first bucket of local strawberries for this spring .... we are now back home and we are still experiencing steady shower of that 20% of rain .... our plan is to continue to load the camper between showers, if/when there is a pause

Quite a bit late. It was 53° this morning around 7 on the dog walk. It's 75° right now. I've been busy all day.....too busy for my liking. I cooked bacon, flapjacks and coffee for breakfast.
