Found some primers today.

Post by Vaquero » Wed Apr 06, 2022 3:41 pm

😳 Yep, I found some small pistol primers at one of my stops today.
Oh my...🤨

At another stop I saw 4 Henrys, two single shot shotguns and a lever action 410, and a golden boy. The most I've seen in one place in a good while.

I just look locally when out and about.
This shop had these the last time I stopped, and
he has sold quite a few because there were more about a month ago.
They did have 3 boxes of Speer 45 gr 224's for $11.00 a 100.
I almost bought them but passed.

Congratulations on your score. Living in the Peoples Republic of New Jersey we have to rely on the internet and incurring assorted shipping costs.

I find this to be mildly encouraging because it shows that Winchester is releasing at least a small amount of primers to the open market.

Back in December 2021 I happened to be in the LGS when a load of Winchester primers arrived. I stocked up well over the next 2 days with large and small primers. The shop has a long standing order for lots of products and they never know when stuff might show up.

I was just in the right place at the right time that day and since then no more primers have come in. Price wasn't bad either at 55 bucks per 1K
Who knows when Alliant powder like Unique will show up again!

I think the new normal will be at least $75/1000. Haven’t seen any around here (Central NYS) in years.

forty, you're right about Unique. Haven't seen any at my LGS in some time. Nor Universal or 2400. Did manage to get some Red Dot a couple months ago. But now, nada. I'm ok on components, but, still.........

Earlier in the week, I purchased a box of 1000 Winchester large pistol primers (WLP). They box is red and white like the small primers you purchased. I noticed the new packaging does not state the use of the primer on the packaging. My older WLP primer box states "For standard and magnum" ammunition.

Saw some CCI sm rifle primers yesterday in a shop for about $80 as I recall. The store owner picked them up at an estate sale. Didn’t need any so left them but at least they weren’t $100 :o

Got an email from Capital Cartridge the other day. They had GINEX small pistol primers and small rifle primers $575 for 5000
Had never heard of GINEX primers before - don't know anything about them. At that price they are 11 1/2 cents a primer. I think 5000 was the minimum purchase. The last primers I purchased were Winchester and they were $79.99 for a 1000.

They're more than I've ever paid, but they have primers. Free shipping in bulk.

SPM CCI $599 per 5K, free shipping and others, including large pistol and rifle.
