Re: The Adult Evening Beverage
I'm trying a Manhattan after dinner tonight. As I've mentioned before, I don't taste the good whiskey anymore after smacking my head.
I can taste the bitters and the sweetness. I have a slight taste of whiskey, but not much. I'm sure I'll be feeling warm and relaxed soon.
I'm raising my glass and saluting all forum members. Salute.

Re: The Adult Evening Beverage
Went to the Ranchero tonight. A nice dark dark lager beer and all you can eat Smelt with cole slaw, relish dish and french fries.
Oh, for those of you who don't know, smelt are small fish that spawn in the early Spring in the Great Lakes. There are literally millions of them. They are small, from 3 inches to maybe 6. You clean them with a scissors, (as a little kid I had to help with the local smelt feed, I cleaned them and Dad fried them), and you eat all that is left. Bones, fins, tail, ect. If done correctly they are a sweet fish that are deep fried and served with tartar sauce.
They brought me a plate that must have held, I kid you not, 200 smelt. I guess since it is all you can eat, they give you plenty to start with, and then you won't need more. I could not eat all of them plus the slaw and fries. I brought some home, offered them to my wife's little cat who declined them, and put the rest out for the coons.
Win, win.

Love them Coop! Used to eat them when I lived in Chicago. I had friends who would go smelting every year. Good stuff!cooperhawk wrote: ↑Wed Apr 06, 2022 8:07 pmWent to the Ranchero tonight. A nice dark dark lager beer and all you can eat Smelt with cole slaw, relish dish and french fries.

Re: The Adult Evening Beverage
They have smelt feeds for two weeks in the Spring, always on Wednesday evening. Man, the place was packed and we got literally the last parking place. We are friends with the owners and get nice treatment, well, so does everyone there, but it's a fun place to go.markiver54 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 06, 2022 8:14 pmLove them Coop! Well, that's enough for this year. Burp!

Well, Old Bradshaw was talking about Sushi, but I like some of that as well.
But, yeah, they do look like bait.
But they are really good.
