Frontier shooting, circa 1820

Great day at the range, 55F and no wind.

My Frontier .50 cal percussion rifle with a patched round ball. I try to shoot off hand all the time now, no kneeling like I got used to. Better to become proficient at off hand I think.

Great shooting as always, RR. Remember, though, 1820 would have been a touch early for a mountain man to be carrying a new-fangled percussion gun. Now your new flintlock when it arrives is the perfect, period correct, 1820 gun. Can't wait to see it. Be careful, though. With that flinter and the way you shoot, you may just disappear into some kind of time warp and end up back in the mountains in 1820.

True enough....I'd be ok with my own version of a classic Twilight Zone episode and finding myself back in the early 1800's after the smoke clears.

Looks good to me. Cant wait to see what you think of the rock lock but Im pretty darn sure you will lost now back in the 1700's. Hopefully things will change and you wont need to hide in a buffalo carcass

I know one thing, RR is just plain good when it comes to rifle shooting. I cant even shoot as good as he shoots on his bad days. Give him a rifle and a few rounds and he amazes me with his accuracy. I cant wait to see what he does with the flintlock. Flintlocks are a challenge to shoot. Follow through is a must. RR is like our favorite pro athletes they are just gifted with talent all the rest of us wish we had.
