2022 NCAA Basketball Tournament

Post by JEBar » Fri Mar 25, 2022 8:42 am

Coach K is scheduled to retire at the end of this season .... Last night, Mike Krzyzewski's retirement was delayed yet another game after his team topped Texas Tech, 78-73as a result they're heading to the Elite Eight..... it was a really close game with Duke pulling ahead in the last few minutes

I see both the top 2 teams ranked in pre tournament rankings got beat yesterday. Hatch those Zags just cant seem to make it to the top.

Yeah, they laid a great big egg last night. Arkansas has a smothering defense and the refs really sucked but neither of these factors caused the Zags to lose. Unfortunately they couldn’t find the basket all game. They had lots of open shots that just didn’t go in. Had they made just 10% of their misses the outcome might have been different. Unfortunately we Zag fans have seen this in the big dance way too many times. Seems like they choke on the big stage. I’d like to make the statement “oh well, maybe next year” but it’s still too soon for optimism. Sigh, the pain will pass.

Loved watching UofH win that game against AZ. Any No. 1 teams left in the tourney?

the Jayhawks are the only #1 seed left

the Peacocks of Saint Peter's University are the first No. 15 seed to reach the Elite Eight .... they face the UNC Tarheels next

the Arkansas Razorbacks are next up for Duke

Hey Jim, congrats to UNC on their victory over UCLA.

Saint Peters U. Reminds me of the Gonzaga Bulldogs back in the early 2000’s. What a great story. :D

every now and again a team comes along that seems to have a magical star hanging over them .... all the Heels can do at this point is to not take them lightly and work their butts off in serious preparation

well, Coach K has at least one more game to coach .... the Blue Devils maintained a fairly comfortable lead for most of the game, final score 78-69 .... this makes 13 Final Fours for Coach K

UNC came to play .... from the opening tip they systematically took St Peter's apart .... final score 59-49 .... as a result the ACC will have 50% of the teams in each the final 4 and championship game .... next up Duke vs UNC .... as an odd bit of trivia, this will be the first time that they have played each other in a NCCA tournament game

late in the second half, Justin Moore, one of Villanova’s team captains and one of their best players, suffered a torn right Achilles tendon .... bottom line, he will miss the rest of March Madness .... I hate it for him and for his team

indeed .... if meeting for the first time ever in an NCAA Tournament game wasn't enough to invoke a maximum effort from both teams, its only been a few days since UNC beat Duke to hand Coach K a defeat in his last game coached at Cameron .... that was hard blow to all of Duke's players and fans which will be felt for decades to come ....

The ticket prices for Duke-North Carolina this Saturday are expected to be insane.

In fact, the game is trending towards being the highest-selling game between the two teams in StubHub history.

The average price for a ticket right now is $5,392. The get-in price is a bit cheaper but still $3,690

if you should happen to see me or anyone I know there, it would come as a major shock .... Western Carolina University is my alma mater .... it isn't in the ACC .... we pull for any ACC team that is playing against a non ACC team .... when 2 ACC teams go against each other, we tend to pull for the old ACC schools .... we live close to NC State, UNC, Duke and Wake Forest .... in Saturday's game between Duke and UNC, the fact that Coack K is retiring, we'd like to see him go out with the title
