Our Morning Coffee and Weather

52° early this morning. Right now it's up to 54°. Should be a nice sunny day. Just cereal and coffee this morning as it's a busy start.

we were jolted awake this morning by the tone of weather alerts coming from several different phones .... a Tornado was shown on radar to be just south of us and our home was well within the cone .... it doesn't take very long to get up and dressed at such times .... thankfully within a few minutes the local radar reports were showing it had missed us by several miles .... no reports of damage so we don't know if it was ever on the ground or not .... regular breakfast has come and gone, Folgers still actively flowing .... afternoon medical appointment in Raleigh on tap for this afternoon ... a couple of truck parts and one winch part due to be delivered later today

Very similar weather here last night. My weather alarm went off and we had a tornado warning, even here in the mountains.

Wow! I slept till nine this morning. I haven't done that in a long time. Usually my
aches and pains have me up by seven at least.
The VA Rep contacted me this AM and wants me to come in to file a claim. I'm surprised but
I will go in and see what is going on. They are telling me that since I'm part of the Agent Orange
group that I am now entitled to more disability. They've looked at my medical records and some
of my ailments are now on the list of things that could have been caused by it. OK, we'll see.

After 15 minutes we called it quits and came back inside. Should be around 54 later and sunny. After three days of broken promises calling for sun and warm only to have cold and rain hopefully today’s forecast will be more accurate.

Tonight Gonzaga plays in the Sweet 16 against the Arkansas Razorbacks who will be a tough team to beat. Last night the Washington State Cougars beat Brigham Young University to earn a spot in the final four of the NIT tournament. So here’s my wild dream…..WSU wins the NIT and Gonzaga wins the NCAA. Both local schools……..hey, a guy can dream right?

35° this morning and sunny. Just finished the 1st cup of coffee in the USCG victory mug. Going to try and get some work done outside. I've got another VA appt, for x-rays of my spine layer thos morning. I can't do much, so im entertaining the thought of back surgery. I'm having a hard time coping with my disability. Looks like I've got a long haul ahead of me, but 1st need to hear what the specialists have to say. Cheers!

It's going to be a cold windy next few days so inside work is all I'll be doing.
I have to call the VA this morning and start the screening process for a larger disability.
They contacted me and encouraged me to apply, so I am. I'm kinda surprised about it.

I also have a lower back injury from an accident in Vietnam, but it's soft tissue damage and
they cannot do anything for it. I know how you feel.

24F and snowing. I’m going out for breakfast with four neighbors. When I return I’ll park at the bottom of the hill so UPS can put my packages in the back of the van.

32 heading to 57 with a light overcast which is supposed to stay around all day. No worries, while I would prefer sunshine it still will be a nice day to work outside. Got about half my lawn raked out yesterday and hope to finish today. My neighbors who just returned from a couple of months down south are taking my wife and I out to dinner tonight for a thank you for collecting their mail and keeping an eye on their place. We’re going to a nice place in downtown Spokane which has great steaks. Yum.

Awoke to 47° degrees. Got home from walking dogs and all of a sudden there were police sirens coming from all directions followed by the police helicopter. I didn't know what was going on until sometime later when an answer was posted on the Nextdoor app. This subdivision is adjacent to ours. Just cereal and coffee this morning.

50 here and the temp should stay for a while. Rain headed here with colder temps for the weekend.

I was pretty busy yesterday. I had my eye checked and then got things for the place. A new radiator hose for the John Deere 650 with fluid, fertilizer at the Ag store, chicken waterer and feeders, and a new floor jack. While at NAPA, I commented I needed a new floor jack. They checked and the normally almost three hundred dollar one they had sitting collecting dust was on sale for $125.oo. Sold. It was less expensive there than a recent trip to harbor freight. It's made in China too, but came out less expensive and my local NAPA got the sale.
We got new deck furniture this week. I assembled the last pieces yesterday. All bolts and a few nuts.



It was rainy, so the cushions are not out.

It's 40° sunny and windy. Rain came through hard an hour ago. Working on the 1st cup of coffee, and breakfast is next. Ran out of eggs. It's Radio day today, so I'll be on the HF bands later. My Bird feeder activity is under heavy use. Dang birds can eat a lot of seed. Price of a bag of black sunflower seeds is $27.00. Last season it was $21.00 or less. I enjoy watching and feeding them though. I will do what I can today until my back says stop. Cheers!

breakfast on hold this morning, Maureen stayed up to watch UNC in 2022 NCAA tournament still in bed .. .. Folgers is on duty and flowing freely .... 45 on its way to 59 .... beautiful morning with "Increased Fire Danger Today... Westerly winds between 15 and 25 mph, with gusts between 30 and 40 mph, are expected from mid to late-morning through the afternoon."

8F with 25 mph wind and an inch of snow thrown in. My driveway will drift to 6”. Next inch of snow and the same thing. I’m told the area usually will not get a foot of snow at once but rather an inch several times a week and that happens all winter.

I need to make a run into town for fresh foods. This living off of canned food gets old fast.

We had wind gust up to 60 mph yesterday.

Hey Gene, do what we do. We have two freezers and we purchase beef and pork
from local farmers that have them slaughtered and sell locally. Our farmer just
called yesterday wanting to know if we needed some beef as he just had one go
to the butcher. We didn't yet. We usually get a half of a half of a beef at a time.
With hogs we usually get a half hog.
I'll bet there are farmers in your area doing this.
Life is good out in the wilderness.

32 right now probably heading into the 50’s but I haven’t seen the forecast yet. Our news folks sleep in on the weekend.

Just looking at more work outside today which is just fine with me.
