Ammo supply good in your ‘hood?

I am welding up the frame for my reloading bench today and tomorrow, taking a little longer than anticipated. When it is done....I believe I have everything I need for reloading the calibers I shoot except experience. I am used to tight tolerances and double checking weights and measures so I think I will be OK but it is still a little spooky. Maybe that is why it is taking so long to get the bench done.

Started with the 41 mag., as they were expensive and kinda hard to find way back then.
Then I added a couple more pistol calibers, and only loaded pistol calibers the first couple years before I ever bought the first set of rifle dies.
Now I have dies and components for every centerfire caliber I own, plus a couple die sets for stuff I don't own.

That is the route that I seem to be taking. A got a Lyman manual yesterday, and I am up to chapter 6 now. I plan to start with .357. My challenge is identifying a space to work in. But, I am thinking about the home office. So far, the reading has been interesting.

Dont over think it Ernie. Its really all common sense once you get going on it. We will be here to help you and GFK. Ask away. When some of the others started I even gave my phone number to a couple people so they could call if they felt better that way

One bit of help I can offer to new reloaders is to clean, size , neck expand and prime all of the brass that you want to load at one time. After that is done, charge the powder and seat the bullet one complete round at a time so that you don't have a loading block full of charged cases that aren't completed rounds. I have used this method for over fifty years and have never had confusion as to what cases had powder or not.Also de -prime your fired brass as soon as you can. I use a Harvey Deprime.

Went to WW yesterday for my beer run, walked over to the hunting section.
Quite a bit of 22lr, and a little rifle ammo.
Got 3 more of the CCI standard vel.

They've had those yellow box Super X's at my WW for a while now. I think that's because they are about $15.00 overpriced compared to what I've seen online. I think that's because WW knows, you'll pay about that difference for shipping, if you order online. C'mon WW! You can afford to drop the price.

Mark, I've seen them at the local Academy, and priced similar. And why I haven't bought any.
Plus I have plenty of high velocity stuff, trust me.

Around here the stores are starting to get some pretty full shelves of ammo. The only ammo I’m currently looking for is .410 and it’s still pretty scarce. I did see some white box Winchester 32 acp and it was $50 for a box of 50 FMJ. Maybe I will start reloading it after all.

Lots of 410 ammo here at the trap club price will set you back. You might need a mask over your eyes to prevent heart damage. Kind of like buyin diesel fuel

Went to a Walmart a bit away from the house today. It had about 5 boxes of Winchester 30-30 @ $25 a box and 1 box of Federal 30-30 @ $24 a box. I was looking for 2 boxes of Federal. But, the 1 will do, for now. Hopefully, more will start showing up on the shelves.

I have yet to see any new 30-30 ammo on any shelves anywhere.
We went by the local Academy yesterday at lunch, they had quite a bit of ammo.
They had a Bunch of 38 spl., but not a single box of 357.
I picked up 200 rds. of Aquila 40 gr 22 lr, for just under $20 otd.

I stopped at LGS today. There was lots of .357, ranging from $37-$52 a box. There was also plenty of .38 Special, .45, .327 and 9mm. But, I was looking for .38 Special +P. My wife enjoyed herself on our last outing. So, I thought that I would pick up another box to have on hand for practice. I may just use .38 Special though. Yet, I would like for her to practice with what we plan to use. I guess that it is a carryover from being in the Navy. We trained the way that we planned to fight. That way, our actions would be more automatic and routine. Of course, none of us knows the future. However, a plan beats nothing.
