What Are They For ?
Got this back pack a while back with my NRA renewal. ( I renew each year instead of paying the huge amount for a life time membership. )
Anyway, I guess this is supposed to be some sort of tactical backpack, ( which I don't need ), but my question is; what is the intended purpose of the straps on the front?
Maybe I'm missing something obvious, or just plain un-informed.
Can anyone enlighten me?

you can hang most everything but a porta potty on those rifles .... my guess would be straps could hold flashlights, lasers, cup holders and a host of other attachments

Wayne LaPierre needs to make a mansion payment so your prizes might be late. Probably needs some new clothes to.

Some types of magazine pouches, military canteens, and other gear, have this kind of arrangement for attaching to webbing:

Bellum Omnium Contra Omnes is rapidly becoming a reality (11/2023). Para Bellum.

Mark, you now need to invest in items that can be hung on those straps. They are handy if you have a use for them.

Re: What Are They For ?
If I remember correctly, they are called Molle (Molly) straps.
MOLLE is an acronym for Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment. It is used to define the current generation of load-bearing equipment and backpacks ... (per Wiki)
I would have loved to have had Molly gear. When I was in, WE had 782 Gear, way heavier. The 782 was the old form we signed when we were issued our gear. There was a list of Combat turnout gear for each designated unit or assignment. As a door gunner, MY List would be drastically different than a standard ground pounder, who would get gear I wouldn't need, just as a Tanker would get gear the Ground Marine wouldn't need.
Funny thing is, WE signed for BASIC combat gear, then a LOAD of extra Flight related gear.
All Marines signed for BASIC combat gear. Then the gear for your MOS. We signed LOTS of forms...

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.
I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.
