Replacing rubber butt pad with something else

I don’t have a brass plated butt stock to measure or compare to. But are the overall length of both the rubber butt stock and curved brass plated stocks the same?

The LOP on both are the same at 14". However, the rubber butt pad is thicker, so your LOP will change some if it is removed.

Thank you much for the answer. Would you know if a brass Buttstock Is a direct replacement for a rubber butt stock? I have a lead on one that is off of a 45–70.

I can't say for sure, but I would think not,...because of the curvature of the brass one. Maybe someone else can answer that with some certainty.

As Mark mentioned, the steel and brass butt stocks do seem to have the same length[w/o the rubber pad], same screw pattern. They appear to be interchangeable. Maybe a call to Henry?

Nope, not interchangeable, I just pulled my BBB 44 and BBS 41 and the length and shape of the top tang is different.

Nope, not interchangeable, I just pulled my BBB 44 and BBS 41 and the length and shape of the top tang is different.

I decided not to alter the carbine for now. Was thinking about it from mostly aesthetics & tradition. I like the BBS series more than others because of weight and subdued looks.
