October Contest
Our contests will now continue. For October, we will have a photo contest. Please submit your photographs in this thread. Feature your favorite Henry rifle or rifles in some type of photograph. The photograph(s) must have been taken by the member submitting them. If a member takes a photograph featuring another member and their Henry, the photographer would win. The judges will be those of us not able to participate: Sir Henry, RetiredSeabee, CT_Shooter, JEBar and myself. Please submit a photograph you make this month.
The prize will be a Henry Checkerboard box and having your photograph featured on the Henry Facebook page. Good luck.

Re: October Contest
Well, I am not much of a photographer and don't have much of a camera so it is unlikely I will participate. I do look forward to seeing some pictures from some of you folks who are good photographers. There always seem to be plenty of them posted on here and some of you are really good.

You all know how I hate to go first
Photobucket doesn't seem to be cooperating so we'll go this route, serves me right for posting that "test" photo under the other thread. So I took this today with the iPad.

Re: October Contest
For me, there will be more attributes to consider than a demonstrated technical skill using a camera and software. We're mostly shooters of another kind with a Henry rifle and expressing that is the essence of this contest for me.White Squirrel wrote:Well, I am not much of a photographer and don't have much of a camera so it is unlikely I will participate.
I'm really excited to see the submissions; and I hope you change your mind, White Squirrel. Go for it! It will be fun -- win or lose!

Perhaps this will encourage some to hone their photo posting skills.

Re: October Contest
I'm walking right alongside White Squirrel -- I won't be able to participate in this contest. Cannot take good photos at all. Although my camera is basic and supposedly simple to operate, I still haven't been able to even figure out how to turn on/turn off the flash!!
Again, I ditto White Squirrel. I'm also am looking forward to seeing all the great photos that will be posted for this contest.
Shoot away, Henry Folk!

You underestimate yourself, PT7. I've seen your photographs and your imagination at work and would encourage you to share it with us again in this contest. Fun is fun and Henry's are the essence of fun!PT7 wrote:I'm walking right alongside White Squirrel -- I won't be able to participate in this contest. Cannot take good photos at all.
This could be a fantastic thread for all of our members just to view the submissions! We own Henrys for cryin' out loud! Cry the battle cry! Do it out loud! Who cares who wins a monthly contest? It will be a bullseye anyway you look at it.

Re: October Contest
I majored in photography and studied under a Master Photographer. I remember him telling us that good photographers learns all the rules but a great photographers know when to break the rules. We were studying portraits at the time and balance of blank space around a person. In particular how much room to leave above and to the side of a head and shoulder picture. My submission was of my friends face/nose smashed up against a window. I took the picture from as close to the plane of the glass as I could and cropped the picture to the glass so it looked like the edge of the picture was a box. The balance was way off but everyone liked it because it made fun of being off balance. The expression on my friends face also added to it as he had a smirk of a smile.CT_Shooter wrote:For me, there will be more attributes to consider than a demonstrated technical skill using a camera and software.
