Good Morning from NY

Post by greywolf224 » Thu Feb 17, 2022 11:04 am

Dropping in to say Hello. Avid gun owner for last forty years. I have been looking at Henry carbines for many years and just took the plunge on a H012GMR 357/38 to accompany a 357 sidearm when hunting deep brush whitetails which is a changeup from an old Winchester 30-30 that I have used for as long as I can remember. I own many lever action carbines of various calibers and seem to favor this action over all others.

About 5 yrs back I bought a ROSSI 92 in same caliber and it has been nothing better than a very expensive doorstop. It will not cycle any 357's or 38's. Lost hours on the phone with Rossi and even had my gunsmith work on it. He got it to cycle some 357 but not nearly enough for me to ever be able to depend on it. So I tinker with it as a pass time these days.

I love the fit and finish on the all steel Henry carbine. The brass receiver was eye catching but I am rough on my firearms and don't believe in safe queens. We are not long in this world so I enjoy what I own. Already threw a brass skinner front and rear sight on it along with a brass rear dove tail blank. Just ordered a pre-64 brass saddle ring which I will be adding to the receiver. I have them on all my carbines. I like the blue steel with brass accents on all my firearms, this one included.

Looking forward to reading through the posts and learning as I go,

Thanks for having me.

Welcome from Western North Carolina!
Good choice on the rifle. I too have a BBS in 357 and love it. Bought it to pair with my S&W 686.
Enjoy the forum. Nothing but good people here...like family! ☺

Welcome from Nebraska Wolf! Another 357 steel carbine shooter here. You’ll love it.
