Wife and I had a discussion on which one of us lost the car keys so we had a spare set to get us to the grocery store. In the store the first area we hit is
the fresh produce for our fruits. Then I notice all the plastic bag rolls are empty in and around the whole area but I see some green ones up above the lettuce area. Grab one to put my grapefruit in and notice they have an open bottom as my fruit roll across the floor with me mumbling some words! So we toss the fruit in the basket and let the checkout guy deal with it. Times getting tough when store runs out of simple plastic bags.
Get home and I had a thought where those keys might be. Yep in the jacket pocket she wore last evening during our walk. I had my truck keys that evening to get in the house.
Guess my turn to lose the keys will be next!

Common occurrence around these parts. We have duplicates of all our keys - just in case. Also have a pushbutton garage door opener mounted outside just in case we both forget our house key.

I was at a large store yesterday and I heard car alarms going off as I loaded up the truck. I thought it was unusual until I realized it was folks looking for their vehicles.

I put a row of cup hooks under the edge of a shelf in the living room. Below the shelf is the table where our gloves, wallet, purse, phones, etc go when we come in the house. Used to be a bowl for all the keys, Trucks, Ranger, tractor, mower, gates, generator housing, etc. But digging for keys, and wondering where they were... Was a pain.

Now, I can look up after someone, who shall remain nameless comes in, and ask... "Where are the tractor/ Ranger/Titan keys?"

"Oops, in my jacket, or left them in the ignition.".

At night before bed, I check the doors, the stove, the coffee pot, and check for empty hooks. Someone, once again, nameless, has left her Studio keys hanging in the deadbolt more than once. I just go out and lock the studio and return the keys to the hook. I don't have to say anything, she HEARS everything.

I forget a lot of things these days, but after more than 13 years in the Corps and nearly Thirty in LE key control/awareness was ingrained. I can't say I never leave the house keys in the console of the truck, but it's rare. And MY truck is locked in the garage when I do.

I like the organization there marine. I put my keys in a drawer when I comw inside. I have two \sets of padlocks. My stepson has some and I have the rest. We have keys to both that way we can share the locks without bothering each other. He has keys to all of my tractors in case he needs them whether I'm around or not. We have keys to each others houses and so far, so good. Neither one of us has lost a key.

I try to avoid it. I do have grandkids.
But when I crave a bit of chocolate, four or five mini tootsies beats a handful of cookies. (Okay, only calorie wise. )

Went back to take a look and only then noticed the purple Mag-Lite. Sometimes we can’t see the forest for the trees……

I carried those black three cell maglites for years on patrol, and bought that one for Miss Ts car so there would be no mistaking it as a Department issue light if someone saw it in her car when she came by to drop off dinner.

As both an academy and firearms instructor, I was one of two officers in the department responsible for the issue of duty gear. That light is two decades old, and still works like a champ. For patrol work, I eventually went to a compact rechargeable streamlight. Smaller, 30% of the weight, much brighter. It died after three years. I still have four of the three cell mag lights.
