Quite a few members of our shooting club here in the Netherlands also ride motorcycles. So do I. I have been riding mopeds and motorcycles since 1973. I ride a BMW R1200GS and a 35 year old Honda GoldWing GL1200 now (not at the same time
).

Re: Motorcycles
back in the '70's I first a Honda 160 cc and later a Honda 350 .... during those years I managed to get off of my bikes in most every possible way .... most weren't planned, they just happened and happened quickly .... a back injury ended my two wheel travels .... I am following the development of a reverse trike very carefully .... when its marketed, I fully intend to purchase one .... if you are interested, here is a link for a thread about it on this forum http://henryrifleforums.com/viewtopic.p ... &hilit=bex
Re: Motorcycles
Interesting vehicle JEBar. Not my type of bike, but it looks nice and very futuristic

Re: Motorcycles
I've been riding motorcycles since the early 70's. I started with dirt bikes and finally progressed to street bikes around 1997. Currently I own a 2017 Harley Road Glide Ultra, a 1992 BMW R100GS and a 1979 Harley FXS. They are fun toys and I enjoy any 2 wheeled vehicle.

I have an old Ironhead Sportster out in the garage; my wife has a Yamaha V-Star. We don't ride very much anymore.
Re: Motorcycles

Re: Motorcycles
My last motorcycle was a 2008 Suzuki Bandit 1250. Had it for 5 years and got ran off the road so many times by cell phone talkers I knew it was time to give it up. Started riding in 1968 and did many years of drag racing with my bikes. Got hit head on in 1972 by a big Ford LTD. Thought I would quit after that but bought another new one in '73 and had maybe 10 more after that. The cell phone talkers ended my riding while I still have legs and arms that work and not in a wheel chair.

Re: Motorcycles
The cell phoners have become an epidemic!!! Just as bad, if not worse than drunk driving. I don't condone it, but, at least a drunk is trying to watch the road. Penalties should be more severe!!

Re: Motorcycles
A good friend would occasionally let me borrow his Honda 90 when I first got my endorsement. My first bike was a early 60's BSA 650 which I didn't actually ride much as I was always having to work on it. Then I had a 250 Honda Elsinore that I rode a lot. Then a Honda CX500 that was a bit of a dog so I didn't keep it long, got a Honda 750 Sabre, I loved that bike but it was my last one, in '83 a old lady pulled out in front of me at a 2 way stop. Was laid up for close to 9 months and if the same accident had happened a few years earlier I would probably have lost my foot. Just never felt comfortable riding among all the people that literally just don't see bikes. A young kid was just killed here a couple of days ago when a old man made a left turn in front of him.
I have kept my motorcycle endorsement all these years but I think I will save the fee and drop it next time I renew, I'm almost positive I won't need it again.

Don't get me started on cell phoners yaking or texting. I could rant on that for a week.markiver54 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 9:19 pmThe cell phoners have become an epidemic!!! I've hung up my helmet, but I used to ride Harley Davidson Sportsters, with Straight Pipes to boot.

I've heard Harleys are safer than other bikes because even though people may not see them the definitely hear them.Cowboy Gun Fan wrote: ↑Fri Feb 11, 2022 9:59 pmI've hung up my helmet, but I used to ride Harley Davidson Sportsters, with Straight Pipes to boot.

Re: Motorcycles
back in the day, it wasn't my type either ..... with the passing of a few decades, the stability and other advantages (AKA comforts) of an enclosed reverse trike have become more and more attractive

Re: Motorcycles
I've got a Harley now, 2017 Ultra. I've had several throughout my lifetime. First one was a Harley Sportster back when they were owned by AMF (POS), then a Yamaha 550 twin, Suzuki Boulevard 800, Kawasaki 1600 classic, and a Goldwing 1800.
