Plinking at the creek with the .22 Henry "Evil Roy"

Post by fortyshooter » Wed Feb 09, 2022 7:07 pm

Well with near 60 F and blue sky I had to take that little plinking target down to the range today and set it up in it's special place.
First I had to spend an hour or two clearing the area of those briar vines along a new trail and the shooting area. Setup a table and chair in a nice spot along the creek where it runs wide and forms an inlet area off the main flow. Then had to go back down to the bridge cross to other side and setup the target stand. It worked out really nice and my range buddy Ace stopped by to see what I was up to!

Brought along some CCI .22LR Quiet ammo for the Henry Evil Roy carbine and settled down to some plinking fun while listening to the creek flow and a couple of distant roosters giving out a shout. Some nice hits on the target paper and cans and after the shooting very relaxing just to sit and take in the view and enjoy a nice chilled brew....priceless! Video https://youtu.be/T0pQyq_aXLM

This will be a frequent spot for just plinking along on an afternoon!

forty, that looks to be a fun and relaxing place to be. Hard to not have some shooting fun with a .22lr anything. Gonna watch the video shortly.

Between those magnets and that binder clip I never would have thought that I needed to make a trip to Staples for shooting supplies. :!:

Looks like a ton of fun.

The magnets were a universal hanger type that you can nut and bolt a hook onto. I had one already and needed one more which local HD has.
Spring clips I have a bunch of them and just used a ziptie thru a drilled hole in pipe to keep it from sliding around.

The stand turned out the way it did based on the parts I had laying around....I don't throw away much hardware.

Yeah man....I truly enjoy my time spent down there and it seems to rush on by and then time to pack up. When I bought the property it was a grown up mess and really didn't look at the creek much before I bought it since no trail to it. Lots of work over the 6 years has gotten the place looking good and usable. Right now it would take a good bit to get it out of my hands! Would like to plant some kind of flowering plants along areas of the creek bank and maybe some clover for the deer in areas off the creek.

Don't forget to check one of those Dollar stores or is it a Buck and a Half store now? Find some target stuff there like that foam core backing board.
