Wife says no range
Wife says no range
Haven't been to the range in 2 months. Was planning on going this Fri. but my wife is dead against it. Since I have been in remission
for just about 2 years she says I'm pressing my luck. I go to a small indoor range 5 ports and no one wears mask but me. Put skinners sights on my Tribute Golden Boy I haven't shot it yet. Plus you know how it is I need to lets off some steam.
What do you guys think am I pressing my luck with all the new verants going around? Or is my lovely wife being overly cautious or am I pressing my luck. I would appreciate your views on this subject.

Get out there and live buddy.
Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.
Re: Wife says no range
Go to any range you want. God bless our overly concerned wifes. They sometimes don't realize that we aren't getting any younger.

Re: Wife says no range
You've got a good wife. I'd give her the peace of mind that she clearly needs. It's hard being a survivor or even a potential one. Think about it. You'll have lots of other opportunities to shoot.
Good luck, Vet.

Re: Wife says no range
Is there an outdoor range anywhere nearby? Outside should mitigate much of the exposure IMO.
Good news is, the omicron variant is not nearly as virulent as the original, and delta. Bad news is that it is much more transmissible, even to those who have been vaccinated. Other bad news is it can still be quite serious to some folks.

The outdoor range idea might be a good idea. If you go to the indoor range against her wish it might be rough indoors when you get home.

Having just got over the vid, and still dealing with a cough and shortness of breath, i'd wait. Or find an out door range on a tuesday morning.
I went to the local indoor range yesterday at 1pm, it was a bleepin zoo.
Had the range at my house not been 35 degrees i would have stayed here.

Re: Wife says no range
I hated public indoor ranges and outdoor ranges.
You never know who might be standing on the firing line. The pandemic might be the least of your worries.
I made sure each of the homes I bought after I got out of the Corps had room to shoot.
Walk outside, boom.
You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.
I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

I'm the wife of a cancer survivor and I know full well what it means to worry about her husband. Omicron is highly contagious. Your wife is right to be concerned. Your call, though.

Re: Wife says no range
Don't know where in NC you are but more than welcome to spend some time at my place in the woods to shoot!
Sometime back in 2009 B.C. ( before corona) I went to a small local indoor range and caught something that gave me a heck of a sinus condition. The
ventilation wasn't that good. I always prefer outdoor shooting!

Re: Wife says no range
First thanks for all the input. Decided not to go, read all your post and it would be very selfish on my part to make my wonderful wife worry any more then she has already. She has stood by me durning 14 rounds of chemo, a colon recession and a major operation
which tok out 30% of my live and gallbladder and 4 blood transfusions.
She put it to me this way, you received 2 Purple Hearts from Vietnam which gave you 100% disability rating. Not to mention you caught a stray bullet 3 weeks after you came back from Nam during a drive by shooting. Now with stage 4 colon and liver cancer your Dr. can't believe your cancer free! So your not in remission you are cancer free dummy. So please don't press your luck.Your not a cat with 9 lives. Well she's right and I love her very much for everything she had to put up with manely ME while I was sick.
Once again thanks to all.

Re: Wife says no range
Good call...the ranges aren't going anywhere. Wait for nice weather and find one of them outside. Maybe she would go with you?
Kudos to you for re-visiting all that your lovely wife has been through while staying by your side. She DOES deserve that consideration.

If the talking heads are right, this Omicron variant is likely peaking and will be on the down stroke quickly.
