Thanks Hatch. The eastern half of NC is supposed to get it worse than us this time. Right out to the coastline.

Well, I guess Virginia and the Carolina's will have to get all six snow plows out.
Don't get me wrong, I lived there for twenty years and saw how they handled snow storm.

unless one has been purchased recently, NC doesn't have a dedicated "snow plow" in the state .... we do have plenty of dump trucks with a scrape blade on the front and a salt/brine spreader on the back

I moved down to Kokomo Indiana in 1972 and that winter we got 10 inches of snow overnight. That day after shoveling out and driving to work only to find out it was closed, I was driving around amused about why everyone was having so much trouble and freaking out when I came across the cities only 3 "snowplows" which had become irreversibly stuck trying to help the first stuck plow. Had a good laugh. City was closed for 2 days,

I am happy to live in a region that does not require an over abundance of plows.
I despise winter! Have had my share, having previously lived in the Chicago area for 20 years.
Keep your snow up north please!

Supposed to warm up to respectae weather this weekend, right now it's still 10° ( which does, ( by my personal rulebook) not yet meet that definition) but I expect it will be a decent day.... a couple good warm day ahead before Canada shares some more of their. "bracing" air with us.... coffee is good no calamities have yet crept over the horizon ... so im good.... I wish the same for you folks...

I'm contemplating studded snow tires or just snow tires for next year. "The northeast is tough on vehicles" so my neighbor says. He owns a used car business. He would know. I'm leaning towards studded snows as the tractors do so much better with chains when they need the extra traction from time to time. When you need the studs in the tires, you need them, any other time they just make lots of noise.

No big plans for the day. I hope you enjoy yours.

for once, the forecasters hit it on the button .... 28 degrees right now with 3.5" of snow .... largest measurable snow in January here since 2004 .... our kids and their kids are all out playing in the snow .... with the forecasted sub freezing temps over the next three days, icy roads will be with us for a while

Oh boy Jim, you got smacked! While those are some pretty pictures I’m sure you’re not loving it.

Another boring day forecast, woke up to 28 with a high of 34 expected. Yesterday we had some sun breaks which were appreciated. My poor neighbor just landed in Arizona on his snowbird trip and send me a pic of the snow that fell. Just a trace but snow is snow especially when you’re trying to escape it.

My cousin survived the bypass surgery and is recovering now.

low of 17 under a clear, Carolina Blue sky, earlier this morning .... while not unheard of, that's pretty dang low for this part of the country .... for the most part, most heavy use roads are clear with black ice in some locations .... its supposed to get up to 45 later today, hopefully it can get serious about melting .... this morning's breakfast has sausage, eggs, sliced tomatoes chased by Folgers on the menu .... don't know if I'll venture out today or not

26 heading to 33 with overcast skies. Seven day forecast is Groundhog Day deja vu all over again rinse and repeat, well you get the picture. Fog followed by more fog with pending fog on tap. Gray days of winter indeed. Temps will be seasonal with lows in the mid 20’s and high’s in the mid 30’s. Now what was that road that leads to Arizona?

Not much on tap today and it’s too icy to take the dog for a walk. Probably watch the Rams game, don’t care much for the Rams but their star receiver Cooper Kupp is a local boy who played here in Spokane for Eastern Washington University and grew up in Yakima WA. He didn’t get recruited by any of the power 5 colleges and now look at him. Setting NFL records. You go Coop!
