Well, first off Congrats to the wife, next Welcome aboard from W TN.
As to ammo and the 45 colt, in today's madness, I would grab what you can find as it's not one of the popular calibers to the general public.
I myself on the other hand Love the cal. and have a few different firearms chamber for it.
And I also reload for mine so can't really recommend any factory stuff.

Welcome to the forum. Congrats to the wife. If you dont reload for the 45 Colt then its hard to be picky. It would be whatever you can find for sale.

Welcome from another new member of the family. As others have said, if you're not reloading you can't be picky. And if you are reloading where'd ya get yer primers and can ya send me some? :D

I looked at the two factory loads I have for my Big Boy in .45 LC. One is MagTec 200 gr flat lead nose and the other is Winchester 255 grain lead round nose. Both shot well and accurately out of the Big Boy. The range was
50 yds and 75 yds. I had found the Big Boy used at a LGS that I frequented. Those were the only types of .45 LC they had so I got one of each. I wish I had gotten more now, but that's what I got.
See what you can find and see how it does. I'm glad your wife rates a Big Boy. Congratulations to you both. The .45 LC is an interesting cartridge. Enjoy shooting with it.

Welcome to the forum and congrats to your wife on the 45 Colt. I haven't seen any ammo for 45 Colt since I don't know when.

Welcome onboard. 45 Colt is a fun caliber, but I haven't seen any in shops by me in some time. Fortunately I reload my own so I can feed my addiction. There are some online ammo vendors with it, but the prices sure ain't cheap.

When I bought my .45 Colt BBB a few years ago, the LGS only had 255gr Blazer and a box of Remington JHPs. I bought the Blazer aluminum for $48.00 because I didn't want to pay over $55.00 for the Remingtons. I wish that I had bought the Remington. The Blazers bullets would slide down into the cases from recoil. That wasn't very nice. Thankfully, I had purchased all of things I needed to reload for the .45.

If they ever come back into stock I'd recommend https://www.underwoodammo.com/45-colt-l ... point.html
I've also used this quite successfully and it seems it is in stock at the moment https://www.underwoodammo.com/45-colt-l ... check.html

Thanks y'all. I actually found 3 boxes at lgs I snagged. She ordered me a 45-70 case hardened for our anniversary. Said I needed another hunting rifle. So the 6th anniversary must be the lever action anniversary.
