2022 Desert shoot.

Post by Rifletom » Sat Jan 08, 2022 5:51 pm

Finally made it out to the desert. What perfect weather; 74F, no wind at all and just the three of us. I only took three guns, my Pietta .45 Colt, Mod 94 30-30 and a CZ 452 Scout to zero a scope for my wife to shoot. For three guys, we brought the armory! my three, Mark's five and Chris' ten. Shooting, BS'ing, looking at all the guns. What a day. Have to say, I was most happy with my 30-30. At the 130 yard, 8" plate, it never missed. Stoked! Actually, we all shot pretty darn good. Chris is a way better S/A revolver shooter than I am. Who cares. Having a ball. Took a couple of pics, but, you know me.
Damn dinosaur. Doing it again in a couple weeks.

Now we're talking! First pic is Mark shooting his Henry .22, second couple is Chris getting Marlin '94 in .41 mag ready[ dang accurate that .41 is!].
Our down range targets, if you can pick them out: 50 yards, 80 yards and 130 yards. We had a great time in the desert. Thanks a ton to Randy for posting these, I really appreciate the picture help I get here. This forum is the best!

How do you determine where you cab shoot in the desert, is that private property, state land?

'islander, yes, BLM land around an old abandoned mining site.

Al, that .41 mag was hitting the 130 yard target easily. That one and his 39A are his favorites.

Glad you guys enjoyed the pictures. Thanks again Randy.

Us guys that have BLM land to shoot on are spoiled. Especially when traveling to another state for a period of time. Texas has hardly any and finding a place to shoot like that isnt real easy

I have a question though. When you pick a place to setup how do you know if somebody is down range doing the same thing?
