Wolf brand remanufactured ammo

Does anyone have any experience with this stuff? I see it online, but not sure if it's just a Canadian thing. Reloaded, store bought ammunition. It's certainly cheaper than factory ammo, but not if it wrecks your gun.

I've seen it at BASS Pro in mostly European calibers .... don't think Cabela's carries it .... have never used any so I don't have any practical experience with it .... I believe its made in Russia

It seems to be available mostly online here, but by the crateload in some places, and CHEAP. Makes me nervous.

I've never shot the reloaded stuff but I've shot the factory steel case Wolf brand ammo. It seems to be really popular in the 7.62x39 cartridge which is what I was shooting (Saiga sporter, AK platform). I don't think I'd run it through my Henry though...

I ruined one S&W pistol with 2,000 rounds of cheap Wolf ammo (plated steel core bullets). Will never shoot their ammo again.

Yeah I felt good about shooting it out of the AK platform but wouldn't trust it in anything else. There is some Wolf Brass ammo that I've heard is decent. The difference in price and the quantity of rounds I shoot in a year don't justify the risk.

I bought one box of it at Bass Pro for my WWII M! carbine because UMC was not available. I have shot about 30 rounds of it. It seems ok but I don't plan on buying any more of it. Just not comfortable with "made in Russia."

I'd tend to agree with being uncomfortable when purchasing a product "made in Russia." Although many years ago, I visited and travelled there several times, and lived one entire summer in former Leningrad. I didn't buy many products, but those which I did (including an electric tea pot) were not anywhere near the quality of most U.S.A-made stuff. I would be concerned about quality control in their ammo production. There wasn't very much general quality control years ago, and I just don't know if there has been much recent improvement in the small private-sector manufacturing systems, or not.

Interesting that there are some "nervous responses" weaved throughout this thread so far!

Has anyone been reading evaluations about the Wolf or other brands of Russian-made ammo? That would be interesting info, I'd think.

I think I'll leave it for Putin...he'll need it more than me if he gets too cocky one day.
