Sunday Afternoon Outing...Henry .45-70 & Ruger GP100

Post by Steve51 » Sun Dec 12, 2021 9:31 pm

Spent the afternoon checking out the .45-70 and the Ruger GP100 with upgraded sights.
Took some shots with the .45-70 at 50 yds and 75 yds.
I used H4198 powder for these loads with velocities approx 1500 fps

All the shots from the GP100 were at 10yds.

RUGER GP100 with 5" barrel Rear sight is a Warren Custom Outdoors "One Hole Sight" the front sight is a Hi-Vis
This combination seems to work better for my aging eyes.

All shots at 10 yds using mild magnum loads with Unique Powder (7.4 gr)
and 158 grain LSWC bullets
Some shots were fired single action and some double action
I like to shoot revolvers but I'm not good at it.

Steve that is some good shooting rifle and revolver. Yep I know just a little about those one hole or ghost ring sights! Great setup on the GP 100 too!

Good shooting I'd say. Those groundhogs don't look too happy.

Great looking guns and targets too. That sight set up on the GP-100 is very nice.
