33 with a light wet snow falling. 42 later so what little bit that stuck on the grassy areas will disappear. Took the pup out when it was still dark and snowing at a heavier rate and he was pretty intrigued with both what was falling and what was on the ground.

If it’s not too wet I’ll continue to work on my trail/road this morning but more rain is expected this afternoon.

62 on its way to 72 .... a much ballyhooed front that was supposed to bring heavy, overnight thunderstorms did pass through quietly dropping only a little over a trace of rain .... finishing packing and hooking up our camper to spend the weekend camping with our club will get underway shortly

Morning 63°here in central W TN this AM, and they say it will turn completely around and be 63 later this afternoon.
No rain in the forecast til middle of next week, but will be below freezing the next few mornings.
Maybe that will get the rut going, checked the game cameras yesterday, had a big ole 8 point on 2 different cameras Early last Sat. morn.
Three completely different bucks on a third, and a spike on another. All still nocturnal except for the spike and he's the one I saw last Sunday morn, and was pretty sure he would be on that one as it was the direction he was headed.

Oh well, off to work today, hope you all enjoy your Friday.

I need to blow leaves but not today I guess. Too windy and wet.
It's not supposed to get nice again until next week, so I guess I'll work in my shop.
I need some small projects to keep me busy. I just made new cutting boards for all my girls.
What's next? I'll figure something out.

It was 51° this morning and already hitting the mid 60's at 9:20 or so. Should reach lower to mid 70's today and then another front on the way tomorrow morning. Just cooked some steel cut oats, toast and coffee this morning.

Pineapple express returneth

It arrived here overnight, we had a good hard sustained rain and now at 38 it’s just a light rain with light fog. Looks like a great day to do indoor chores plus we plan on a trip to Wal-mart for coffee and Costco for, well you know, Costco stuff.

Made good progress on my road yesterday and I think with one more day I’ll be done with the cutting and piling. I’ll have to take my tractor in there and smooth out some of the larger humps and break down some rotten stumps that are in the way. Apparently there was a logging operation in there many years ago. Then I’ll drag my rotary mower on it to cut the brush and the bumper crop of ferns that grow down there. My place is interesting, only 10 acres but where my house is located it’s the top of a small ridge. Nice and level with typical Ponderosa Pines and brush. Drop down the ridge to the back of my place and it’s a completely different world. There must be an underground spring along the bottom of the ridge as the area is completely covered with ferns and there are some scattered Aspen and Larch in there.



This picture is still on top just before the ridge drops off. There are a few ferns here but down the ridge they are like a carpet. This is the path of my road and it gets much thicker just down a bit. I selected a route that didn’t require removing any large trees other than one that was growing sidewise. This is making for lots of bends and turns and I like that. Just a nice stroll or drive thru the forest.

We're on the north slope of a high ridge and we have a bumper crop of ferns every year.
Lots of Oaks and Hickory with an occasional Maple and Elm. The Elms live about five years and then die of Dutch Elm Disease.
We have a creek that runs when it rains heavy, but is dry the rest of the time, and a bridge made of old creosoted timbers.
Our drive twists and turns as well.
People who visit say they enjoy the drive in. It's about half a mile through the dense woods.

Good morning, a nice calm, cool one here.
Was 32° when I left the house now it's 29° with 92%humidity. Nothing moving right here. But while typing this I just heard the first shot of the day.

we awoke to a beautiful, 47 degree cool morning where we are camped with our club on I-95 at Four Oaks ....supposed to get up to 64 later today and drop to 29 overnight .... after breakfast the ladies will head for the outlet malls ... ... and the fellows will go to a local craft store where one of our members sells the knives he makes

46° this morning at 6:00 a.m. and headed to about 68° today. I've got a couple of clients this afternoon otherwise I'll try to finish up a couple of other projects. Oatmeal, toast and coffee.

31 with a heavy fog this morning. Maybe the mid 40’s today but only if we get some sun breaks. Otherwise it will probably stay in the upper 30’s. Very windy tomorrow with the possibility of widespread power outages. Bummer.

Today I have to take a break from my road project and add an extension on the mailbox stand a neighbor and I installed a couple of months ago. We knew it would need to be extended but didn’t expect it this soon. This community I live in is booming.

Raw and windy. Not a stellar day indeed for my birthday. Well, guess I won't do yard work today.
Well, I'm 81 today. I don't feel 81. I still do most of the things I've always done, just slower.
Folgers and Carol made my favorite thing for my birthday breakfast. It's a fried egg with bacon and cheese
on a toasted hamburger bun smeared with Miracle Whip.
I have learned through the years that if I eat a good breakfast, I gain wait. That's why it's usually cookies
or Granola.

Never give up your dreams Gene, but if you want to go to Wisconsin do it by way of Arizona or Florida. Winter is not the time to
move in. I also like the area around Medford although I've never been in the actual town. I have been through the area.
Wisconsin folks are nice unlike "Minnesota Nice" folks. I grew up here and then was gone for twenty years. That's about how
long it took me to get accepted back.

Happy belated Birthday cooperhawk. Snowed early Saturday morning and that took until 11:00 to melt off then rained all day, supposed to be the same today. At least most of the leaves are down but of course are too wet to deal with.
Working on an old Atlas metal lathe I brought home and a friend is picking up a jointer I am selling. May also get rid of one of the radial arm saws I am selling as well. Need the room in the shop. Got to stop bringing home strays. Oatmeal, toast and coffee to get going. Enjoy your Sunday.
