Double dose of good luck today. First, the newly installed sights were very much on paper, only needed a small elevation adjustment to get zero. Second, load development is over. First tube of 10, at 50 yards from a very solid rest:
Got there just in time, after that first magazine there was a growing line of people waiting to sight in their deer rifles (why in the world people wait until the week before opening day, I'll never understand). Anyway, gave up my seat at that point since I'm not much for bench shooting other than for zero & testing. Shot the bull with some of the folks in line, unsurprisingly, the main topic was how much they had paid for hunting ammo, and where they managed to find it.
Action is pretty nice, par for the course with a Henry. Trigger is crisp but heavy, nearly 7 lbs. Cut my teeth on nasty old milsurp triggers, no trigger snob here, but 7 is too much. That can be dealt with, especially knowing the rifle shoots more than good enough to be worth the effort.
