Re: LGS VISIT
When I stopped in the BIG gunshop in OKC they had some reloading supplies. I didn't think to look for primers, but when I am up that way in a couple weeks with Ms. Tina to pick up her serviced Sewing Machines, I will certainly look for Large and Small pistol. They had a box of 1000 lubed 158g swc lead 38 bullets for $78, I probably should have picked THOSE up.
You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.
I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

Re: LGS VISIT
I've been stopping by my local Academy. Seems like they've been able to get CCI primers in. Four sleeve per person/day. I plan on making another trip soon.PJM wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 10:38 pmSon stopped in a Vt gunstore looking for large rifle primers. After discussion with owner he was told CCI stopped making primers for public last month and was concentrating all production on supplying their sister company, Federal Cartridge Company, with primers. This will be a long haul.

Re: LGS VISIT
This past weekend I traveled up to the Adirondack Mountain region of upstate New York for my high school class reunion, #60. Lots of gun shops up there. I stopped by two them looking for primers and got basically the message that PJM received in Vermont. For the last year I have rationing my Large Pistol primers (.44 Mag BBB). Pretty soon I will begin to do the same with my remaining Large Rifle primers.
If I were running Winchester Olin, I would recognize that the current situation on primers presents a superb opportunity to build long-term market share in the primer business. I would immediately begin an immense production run of both those primers as well as Winchester 209 shotshell primers, and flood the retail market place with the primers. I'd be betting that most reloaders who use other primer brands, would jump at the chance to buy a brick or two of the Winchester primers. In marketing, they call this 'gaining trial". The idea is that a high % of the first time uses will permanently convert to Winchester primers. To insure this, when packaging the the primers, Winchester could insert a $10.00 mail-in rebate certificate. This will lead to what marketers call "slippage", i.e., only a small % of the consumers who intend to mail in the refund certificate will actually follow-through and do so. This phenomena is what makes this type of marketing tool affordable for the manufacturer.
