Gene, that Medford home looks nice. The carpet needs to go but at the price, adding hardwood would be easy to afford.
That’s what I think. Tear out all the carpet and put down No 1 Common White Oak. I did that here. My house here is all hardwoods except for tile in two bathrooms and the laundry room.

Then I bought $20K worth of carpets. Mostly Khals, Kazakhs, Sumaks and a Baluch from Afghanistan and some Bidjars, Kazakhs from India. I can bring my carpets with me. I have furniture from the Goodwill on top of the carpets. I need new furniture.

I want a fresh canvas say about ten acres.
just curious, are most of the places you are considering located in areas that have property owners association or local zoning/covenants ..... in our area, most newer developments have pretty tight rules as to what can and can't be done .. :?:

In Montana yes lots of CCR’s and HOA some stating specificity NO SHOOTING. But there they have so much public land it’s no big deal. In Texas it’s a big deal because almost the entire state is private land. Wisconsin seems to be somewhat in the middle. Hunting has a lot to do with shooting in these three states. I say if I can hunt on my property just like everyone else then I should able to shoot year round.

I’m looking at properties where shooting can be done safely. Just because it’s legal doesn’t mean it’s safe. The second thing I need to do is be quiet about it. Both in talking about it and the actual sound of gunfire. Quiet rimfire and pellets should not be a problem with 29 people living in a square mile.

More fun. More carpet to rip out.

https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/W148 ... 2600_zpid/

I’m making a spreadsheet for different homes. I’m adding up not just the price but what it would take to get me moved into a home that I like and the maintenance for the next ten years.

Yes it’s been fun looking at the properties and dream of living there. But now that I’ve sold my home I need to find a new one fast.

Nice, wonder if the tractor and mower come with the property, you will definitely need them for the driveway and lawn(?). Wonder what the hay is for, don't see any critters, maybe feeds some deer in the winter.

Take a hint from those who lived there. SOME carpet is a good thing during those brutally cold WI winters.
I love the look of wood/wood plank, but...just say'n. Keep your toes warm.

Was thinking the same thing those green steps and the green on the inside would be the first to go.

We went with Luxury Vinyl Plank in our current home and I’m surprised how warm the floors stay. We do have carpet in the bedrooms.

5 bedrooms yes. Most of the colors I’ve seen in the homes have not been to my liking. Ripping out carpet and painting is in the budget for most of the homes.

I made a spreadsheet with the price of the home, maintenance for the next ten years and any remodel or additions needed to make each property what it should be.

Now that my home is under contract I need to find a place fast.

I went with real solid hardwood and Persian carpets.

Put your items in watertight pods, put the pods in storage and rent a place in the area you think you want to live. Make sure there’s a really good latte/sandwich shop before you commit.

This needs a little help to make it a good hunting area. 70 acres is enough land and it’s ADA accessible.

There is NO absolutely PERFECT place. One just has to weigh their PRIORITIES!
I'm sure Gene knows what his are. He is older and probably wiser than most of us.

I have absolutely no wise plan other than to keep my options open and be willing to embrace a new life with not knowing a lot about it.

I will be making more life changing decisions in the next month.
