Re: Shooting the 30's!
nice ....for decades 30 caliber was my choice .... as I have a 30-30, 308, 30-06 and 300 WBY mag .... its only since I started purchasing Henry rifles that I expanded that to included 44 mag and 45-70 .... when forced to answer the old question, If you could only have 1 rifle what would it be
.... my answer was the 300 WBY .... the answer to Why
remains, it can take any critter on the North American Continent at ranges further than I can see .... just curious, what bullets do you prefer

Re: Shooting the 30's!
the 150 gr hunting level loads out of your 30-06 should be flat shooting screamers .... all of the bullets we load are made by Nosler .... its been that way since the mid 60's ....
in our 30-30 we fire Consolidated Technology (a joint effort between Nosler and Winchester) 150 gr Ballistic Silvertip
in our 308 we fire 150 gr Ballistic Tips practice, AccuBond for hunting, and E-Tips for lead free hunting
in our 30-06 we fire 165 gr Ballistic Tips practice, AccuBond for hunting, and E-Tips for lead free hunting
in our 300 we fire 180 gr Ballistic Tips practice, AccuBond for hunting, and E-Tips for lead free hunting

Re: Shooting the 30's!
Hey Jim I like those 165 Accu bonds, it's what I use in the 06 when I hunt it, which hasn't been for a half a dozen years now.
Was playing around with those in my Marlin 308 MX a couple years ago, single loading mind you. Man does that rifle like those.
Speaking of 30 cal. the only one getting any hunting action is the MX, but it's been a couple yrs. since it's been to the woods.
The 35 Remingtons have been pretty much the go to lately, that or the handguns.

Re: Shooting the 30's!
with all three of our 30's I've found that you can practice with much cheaper ballistic tips of the same weight .... the impact point of the ballistic tip and accubond is virtually the same .... when you can get them through Shooter's Pro Shop, the cost is much less

PJM, that’s a pretty clever rifle rack!

Nice idea, I didn't pay attention to it till you mentioned it. Went back and looked, nice idea on the portable sawhorse.
I may borrow the idea.
