hi there !
hi there !
new to this forum and lever guns in general, don't own one YET !
joined this forum to do my homework, trying to decide between Henry All Weather and Marlin Trapper in .45-70
I'm a precision reloader and mid range benchrest shooter so I'm gonna reload and already have most of the components except dies and projectiles
Not in a big hurry to get one of those rifles since I can't find any available and I'm not paying GB prices

Re: hi there !
welcome to our forum, delighted to have you join us .... we have a Henry 45-70 and its proven to be one heck of a shooter .... we've loaded our own ammo since the mid 60's but make no claim to be a precision reloader .... the first picture below shows 7 rounds fired at 25 yards .... the second shows 5 rounds fired at 75 yards .... both fired from a bench at an indoor range under about as close to perfect conditions as one can find .... with Henry you get a lifetime warranty that they are totally committed to honoring .... in short, Henry's service after the sale is very good

Hey Quest. Welcome from Nebraska. I’ve shot that 45-70 pictured above. It worked well even for me. Lol. Good luck with your search. You can’t go wrong with Henry.
Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.
Re: hi there !
Ty for the welcome,
nice targets JEBar, I'm not looking for accuracy and precision from .45-70 but I'd be very happy with the your targets
This rifle is gonna be my Alaska bear protection gun and hopefully I'll never get to use it for that purpose

Re: hi there !
just as a bit of info, over the years I've loaded up to 500 gr bullets in our 45-70 .... for our standard hunting and practice loads we use Nosler 300 gr Ballistic Silvertips .... I'll never have the opportunity to hunt Alaska but I've sure enjoyed thanking/dreaming about it .... after playing with many bullet types , I'd load Barns Buster Bullets ===> https://www.americanrifleman.org/conten ... r-bullets/ .... average 2265 fps 400 gr Jacketed Barnes Buster .... 43 gr IMR 4198 .... they kick harder than a large, angry mule but if the sights were on a grizzly, I doubt I'd hear the report or fill the kick
Re: hi there !
Welcome to the Henry Forum. Lots of enablers here as well as great advice. Too many good Henry rifles available to pick just one.

Funny thing about lever action rifles is their reproductive process. Even if you put only one in the safe before you know it there will be two. Then two becomes three and………..
