Newbie from Northern Georgia.

Post by First Sergeant Dan » Thu Sep 15, 2016 7:57 am

Thank you for allowing me into the forum....I'm a retired Army First Sergeant with 20+ years of service and like others on here I'm into guns, shooting and handloading. I've recently purchased a Henry Big Boy in 357 mag and I'll be looking for recommendations on loads....sights....and optics.

Welcome from the Shenandoah Valley, VA. Thanks for your service. The 357 Big Boy is a great shooting rifle - I've got one that is now equipped with a Skinner rear sight and a Lyman front sight to help with my old eyes.

Did you remove the rear buckhorn sight?

I, too, installed a Skinner Express Peep sight on my .357 Big Boy and I did remove the semi-buckhorn. I also filled the dovetail with a Skinner blank that accepts a spare aperture for the Peep. The owner of Skinner sights, Andy, is a sponsor of this forum and he is very helpful. You can contact him directly for advice about his products and he will answer you quickly. There's a link to his company website on the right side of the Forum's Banner.

I love the Express sight. I also didn't need to (or want to) change the front sight. That may change, but not right away. I shoot at close range and this setup is much easier on my 65 year old eyes.
