Henry .17 hmr varmint just came in
Henry .17 hmr varmint just came in
Man I'm a happy puppy. My Henry .17 lever action HMR varmint came in today. I'll clean it and put a scope on it for zeroing tomorrow.

The varmint stock is the best stock for scoping. Congratulations.

Is the varmint buttstock available for purchase as a part from Henry?
Re: Henry .17 hmr varmint just came in
Going to try something. Think I'm going to sand down the action cover down to the metal, smooth it to butter and polish, clean and copper plate and finish with a good stiff nickle plating. I've nickle plated a few things and if it don't work, I'll get another cover from Henry for 49 bucks.
The black scrapes way too easy and the polished nickle will be clear enough you could shave from it.

Some of the receiver covers are pitted and smoothed over with paint. If you sand them down too much they might be too thin. I’ve had good luck smoothing down only about half the covers.Brando73 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 13, 2021 8:27 pmGoing to try something. I'm letting a professional do it. Going to do the barrel band and the screws with it. New cover so It shouldn't be pitted. Worse case senario I'll just replace the parts. Henry only has the same cover for the .17 varmint.
I've done small nickle plateing and have the setup for that. Hade nice results with triggers, hammers and small parts. I'm having these done by a pro that will do a good job with the copper and then the nickle so it will be druable and shine like a mirror.

Dropped it by a professional plating company today. The fore grip ring and action cover (as well as screws) to get nickel plated. I've got a small plating set up but not big enough for the cover. They can do the removal of the paint, clean, copper plate then nickel plate. Gonna look great. Should be ready in a couple of days

My .17 HMR Varmint Express Henry looks different than yours mine has no sights and no picatinny rail. It has a different style scope rail
