Happy AR Owner

Hi,
I am very happy to have been able to acquire an AR-15, with a very traditional look, because it is intended for the T.A.R. (service riffle competition).
A competitor from my club unfortunately died, and his daughter was selling his weapons, just when I had decided to look for an AR-15 of this type.

another competitor told me it was an excellent AR-15, meticulously maintained and in excellent condition ...

I didn't know the 223 Remington, but knew it was very precise, and the recoil was very low.
With only the metal sight mounted on it, I managed to stay in a circle of less than 8 inches on the first try, at 220 yards ...

the 20 'HBAR tube is not for nothing, and allows you to get the most out of the 223 remington.
a real joy !
next goal, 300 m (328 yards) ...

the rifle was sold with reddings competition reloading tools, great!
and lots of stuff, hundreds of lapua brass, 4 box of Sierra matchking 53 grs bullets, 8 magazines, a second top handle with a tunnel type sight, and lots of other stuff ...

It is possible here, but difficult:
you must have been a member of a shooting club for more than a year
request an authorization from the police services which manage the possession of weapons.
the detention is renewed (or not) every 5 years.
the favorable opinion of the president of the shooting club is required.
it is necessary to prove that one has armored cupboards to store the weapons there.
and of course a completely clean criminal record!

Finally, all rifles of this type must be in semi-automatic mode, weapons capable of firing in full auto are strictly prohibited.

No, you can keep it at home,
but transport is only allowed to go from home to the shooting club, and from the shooting club to the home.
No question of stopping at the supermarket or the bar , to drink a beer ...
during transport, it must be impossible to use the weapon immediately: either by dismantling a part (bolt ...)
or by installing a trigger guard lock, or a magazine shaft lock.
no weapons or ammunition in the passenger compartment, everything in the luggage compartment of the car...
finally the ammunition must be in a different suitcase. no magazine filled during transport, of course ... !

When you start reloading for it check the barrel twist. If it’s 1-9 or faster you can shoot heavier bullets such as the Sierra 69 gr Matchking. You will probably find these heavier bullets will do better at longer ranges.

Congrats on a fine rifle, as you are finding out shooting AR’s is ALMOST as much fun as shooting a good lever action.

it's a 1-9 twist , and heavy bullet are better for 300 and more !
52 grs bullet are are ok for 100-200 , but too much light for wind over ...

SDI made a good AR. Congrats! Here's a link to an old article about them. Upon further research the AFT shut down the company in 2014 and indicted the owner for unlawful export of firearms.
