Ive shot quite a few contenders in the past but a 45-70 contender never crossed my path. Im not sure I would want to shoot one either.

I used to shoot a contender in 30-30 but that was for handgun silhouette. I would shoot it while lying on my back, knees up and pressed together and the gun supported with my leg and the recoil mostly absorbed with the upwards rotation of the gun. I would use an elbow pad on my shooting side. I couldn’t imagine shooting a 45-70 however…….
