I have not tried that yet with a .495 ball & .015 patch; that would be a tight fit for sure and likely change the ballistics as well. I am using the factory ramrod but have a hickory one coming this week from TOW. Maybe try it with a sturdier rod....don't want to have to shoot a broken ramrod out....

I shoot 50-55 grains of Triple 7 and usually 60 grains of Goex. Both 2F. For target practice it works fine and saves powder. I do have a nice fiberglass range rod too but prefer using one mounted on the rifle.
