What's for supper?

Last night it was pork chops seared and then finished in a baking dish with Mushroom soup and red wine.
That made a perfect gravy for mashed potatoes. Add some sautéed string beans.
Add a nice cold beer and it was all good.

Grilled cheese o’clock

Last night we were supposed to celebrate Mrs. hatchdog’s birthday with a grilled turkey. After several stops we found a 15 lb fresh turkey and brought it home. Yesterday I prepped the grill and then opened the turkey only to be greeted with a mild foul order. (No pun intended) I examined the bird and found a small amount of some green on the tail and we decided to not use it. Took it back to the store in Deer Park which is the same company as the store in Spokane where we bought it. Unfortunately they only had frozen birds so we picked up a fresh whole chicken instead. We did buy a turkey for future use. Brought it home and after adding some coals put it on the grill. Came out great other than slightly undercooked and had a real nice charcoal grill taste. We’ll give the turkey a shot in a couple of weeks.

Salami sandwich and a bag of chips and an iced tea. Son called and said they had lost their babysitter for the week, and other sitters didn’t take drop ins. So the missus being super GMa jumped in the vehicle and drove to that part of the state and saved the day. So it’s just me and Phil, the bulldog, for dinner tonight. I had the sandwich and Phil had kibble.

Salute to BRM for anchoring the fort. Homemade Chicken Salad tonight and it was delish.

Wow! First fresh tomatoes of the year, so of course BLTs on toast with baked beans and fresh corn on the cob.
Add to that some watermelon and a Bloody Mary and you have our complete meal for tonight.
Now to chill out with a bottle of Shiner's.

Life is good.

Just the Shiners alone is good. We have had some good tomatoes already and Im thinkin since the wife went to Denver to her daughters that a BLT and a salad is on dinner schedule tonight. Put a slice of onion on that BLT to Coop its pretty darn good. How is Carol

Spaghetti with white clam sauce and added clams, along with some home made garlic toast. Pretty good.

Might have to try that onion. She's OK, they took some tests and we'll see, but nothing serious I hope.

Made tortilla pizza on the flattop griddle. They came our great and my wife loved them because they were light and crisp.

Put a store lasagna in the oven. It lost out to a bag of smoked chicken on the counter. Lol. Love my smoked meats.

Have never had eel but would try it. Not much I wouldn't try at least once but I've seen Bourdain and Zimmern eating some stuff I wouldn't try, like live baby octopus or Balut.

Monday night is usually Sushi night for me. Been getting the these bowls instead of the rolled Sushi lately. About the same but a little less $ for a larger portion.

Nothin strange about Japanese food I happen to love it also. Just cant get my wife to put it on the menu very often as she is a Mexican food lover.
