That is intense! She is single minded about killing that bird. Never heard of this.
Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.

Never heard of something like that either Cofisher. That is one *issed off deer! Even spooked the other deer off. Dang!

Re: Nature: Doe rescues rabbit from hawk
I was rooting for the hawk because it was just getting dinner which is natural. The doe doesn’t eat meat and it going after the hawk was not natural.
But then I’m a military hawk.
Thanks for posting.

Re: Nature: Doe rescues rabbit from hawk
I suspect there might have been a newborn fawn nearby, and the doe was more interested in eliminating a potential threat (pre-emptive strike) than in saving the rabbit, but who knows. Maybe the doe and the bunny were just good buddies.

It's very simple, it's just Bambi rescuing Thumper. Right out of Disney.

Re: Deer Defends Rabbit !!!
the only thing that makes sense to me is the sound of an injured rabbit bleats is similar to the ones from a fawn .... the doe that came to the assistance of the bunny may have recently given birth and she reacted .... in short, the hawk was taken down by one ticked off mama ....

This was shared here earlier by Gunnygene (http://henryrifleforums.com/viewtopic.p ... it#p178616), but it documents an amazing interaction between species. Very nice.

Didn't want anything to do with that other deer either. Ticked off mama.
