This home is about 1/2 mile away from the one I’m looking at. Notice the flag. Almost every house in this area has one.

This one is really nice, inside parking for your new RV, plenty of room to set up a shooting range, your own trout pond. Didn't you say you might get 1,700,000 for your place. ;)

I’m betting my place will go for around $1,375,000. I don’t want to appear as having money and that rules that place out.

This place is nice but the siding keeps me away. The house in Fortine has cedar.

Fortine is now at the top of my list. Eureka is 12 miles down the road and the nearest place FBI stats were available.

I’m not moving to Fortine because of the weather. Lots of cold and snow. In the winter low ground fog blankets the area. That is something a local told me.

Living among married people is highly desirable for me. Yes I would like to meet someone but having them live next door not so much. Something tells me the single women that make more than the men are not looking for a husband. That’s fine with me because I want a friend and activity partner more than someone to cook me breakfast.

I’m now looking in Nebraska again. I didn’t like the flatness of the eastern part of the state but this place looks nice. Plus look on inexpensive it is.

Nice looking place, interesting landscaping. My concern with moving to Nebraska would be:

I lived south of there in Sydney for a few years. The Wildcat Hills and bluffs in that area of the panhandle are very nice and farther north up around Chadron you get into the Pine Ridge. That area does get tornadoes, but it's not in tornado alley. Climate is very dry, almost semi-arid. The climate and culture in the panhandle has more in common with eastern Wyoming than the eastern Nebraska. Definitely in cowboy and ranch country in that area.

You can get blizzards in that country, but winters overall aren't as bad as in the eastern part of Nebraska. In the panhandle you do get chinook winds in the winter that you don't get to the east.

Not a lot of public land in Nebraska if you like hunting, but there is some public land in the panhandle. You're definitely in mule deer and antelope country in that area.

Gering is usually associated with nearby Scottsbluff, which is the largest city in the panhandle, so you should have access to all the shopping and medical care you need. I've camped at the nearby Wildcat Hills state rec area many times.

One plus for Nebraska that I've always appreciated is that people aren't knocking down doors to move to Nebraska, so you avoid all that inflated housing and living costs associated with growth from newcomers. Overall it is a very conservative state so I think you'll like it with your conservative political views.

Hawaii is nice, but if your family is on the mainland it can get tiring and expensive visiting. Wisconsin and Maine are nice places to live.

Just getting everything to the islands would be expensive. Wisconsin and Maine would be nice. I’m looking anywhere and everywhere.

Too hot for me, but if you did a lot of RVing during the Summer it wouldn't be bad, I could definitely handle not dealing with snow and cold. I had a Uncle and Aunt that retired to Arizona. They just had a pickup with a canopy but they had enough relatives and friends up north to spend most of the summer visiting. They would always spend at least a couple of weeks at my mom's place.

Remember Gene, don't rule out the beauty and climate of Western North Carolina or even Tennessee.
It's a pretty safe little pocket in the country with 4 seasons and very rarely anything extreme climate wise.

Gene, never condidered Nebraska, but, that place in Gering[?] sure looks nice. You could bank a lot of money with that purchase. Talk about centrally located. Nice place.

The problem with the place is the seller doesn’t really want to sell. They received five over asking price offers and refused to accept any of them. The broker I talked to said she will not show the place anymore.
