Yes, congratulations! I am along with BigAl. It has been just over 30 years for me as well. I was at about a 1 1/2 packs per day. I was told that my lungs would recovery after about 7 years. Don't know how true that is. But, I still had cravings some 10 years later. I think the thing that helped me from starting back or trying something new was lack of funds. The money that I was spending on cigarettes, I put in some type of savings (retirement or emergency fund). Since I considered savings to be more important than smoking, I just continued to saving. I figured that I could survive from not smoking. But, I did not want to be in my upper years with my hand out. So, I just kept leaving smoking along.

The sad part, I only smoked for about 5-6 years. Yet, the efforts hung around for about 10 years. So, it can get its hooks in you. So, just be strong and keep pushing ahead.

You are right about the expense!! I figure I was spending about $300.00 a month, .
I have since bought my SGC Henry and a Ruger Single Ten to reward myself.

While personally I’m an ex-smoker my wife still smokes. We travel to Idaho where cigs are much cheaper once a month and spend about $250 on that months supply. Too bad, imagine how many Henry’s I could buy each year with that money. Oh well, I knew she was a smoker when I proposed to her and after 28 years of a fantastic marriage I’m just going to continue putting up with it.

Yes Hatch, mine does too. It has made it even tougher to quit. It's been a good test of my willpower though.
