The test lead launcher would be my HiPoint 45 Carbine which I haven't shot in a while. Also dug out my S&W 629-2E 3 inch revolver which I haven't shot in a long time to try some 44 Mag loads.
The 45 ACP loads were with same Xtreme plated 230 gr. RN bullet loaded with 6.0 gr. Unique. From the test I saw little difference with speeds of 925-988 FPS with the Small primers and speeds of 954- 987 FPS with the Large primers.
Target distance was 25 yds shooting from standing position. After sitting a while in storage sometime the EoTech sight might require a slight adjustment to be dead on and most likely due to the HiPoint polymer mount. I didn't bother to adjust for bullseye hits for this test being good enough to hit the steel and close to center.
Now I can go ahead and load more 45 ACP using my Small Mag Primers which I have a lot more of.
The SW 629 was a fun shooter as you can see and three different loads put nice clusters of holes in the target! Target was 10 yds and shooting double action from 2 hand standing position. Hits near top area were 240 gr. MB cast bullets with 6 gr. Red Dot. The closer to center hits were same 240 gr. bullet with 9 gr. of Unique and several rounds of Speer 240 gr. JHP with 10 gr. of Unique...I like both those loads!
Also had an old aluminum frying pan that made a great swinging target for the HiPoint Carbine!
Another fun morning at the range to just shoot since the grass wasn't high enough for a cut this time!
