Today is final preps for our boats maiden voyage tomorrow. It is set up for dual batteries but it only came with one so yesterday I picked up a second Group 27 battery and today I’ll install it. Man, I’m getting too old to be bent over an inboard engine, particularly messing with a heavy battery. The battery that came with the boat was not in a box so I had to wrestle it into a one. That was not fun.

Somthing else that isnt to much fun is winterizing those inboards. I thought I needed to be alot younger to get to those lower block plugs

That’s crossed my mind too. I used to do all my own maintenance and winterizing and even 20 years ago it was tough to get around the motor. This boat has seven drain plugs and I would imagine they are a tough bugger to get to. There is a local dealer who specializes in fishing and pontoon boats that lists on their website that for around $350 they will change oil in the motor and outdrive, check and top off all other fluids and winterize. I’m think that may be money well spent.

60 on my thermometer but the news guy keeps telling me the Deer Park temps are in the 50’s. Probably so as my sending unit leans against the side of the house which probably retains heat overnight. Regardless, it’s very pleasant outside right now.

Heading to 97 and we’re heading to the lake for the maiden cruise. I will be bringing my swimming trunks along and plan to dive in!

77° and rain in the forecast again today (80%). The ground is so saturated right now that water just sits on top of it. Cereal, strawberries, banana, and coffee this morning. Lots on the workbench to tackle.

Good luck on the maiden voyage and have a good time. 72 here already and headed to only 84 today. Tomorrow in the upper 90's. Bike ride here in a little while should be a good one.

Another day and still in the game, ( at least so far), planning on mulching in garden, putting in some line posts along west boundary fence.... and dodging the afternoon heat.
In the last week I accidentally managed to acquire two more 22's. Accidentally won a bid on gunbroker for a savage model 72 falling block.( an interesting,( to me) little single shot, has octagon barrel,color case hardened reciever, walnut stock, lever activated falling block...unusual.... not all that old... made by savage in the 70's and 80's they say... but I found it attractive. The other, when I stayed at an old friend's house this weekend (while attending the funeral of another old friend), I fooled around and bought a old winchester model 61. Not fancy, probably call it average condition at best. But it's a gun the old guy had owned since he was 17, and I sort of wanted something to remember him by, ( I don't think he is doing to well health wise. Anyway, ... just like falling off a log, two more guns... they are right,... all it takes is money...

50s this morning and still overcast. We got an inch and a half of well needed rain overnight.
Supposed to clear up and make it into the low 70s today. Sweet!
Up early and will travel about 100 miles to attend my cousins funeral. Mid 60s and he
passed away last week from liver cancer. Too young.

Woke up to a very nice 62 with partially cloudy skies. The area had some thunderstorms pass thru, mostly way south of me so I didn’t hear anything. Hoping for no fire starts from the lightning. Later today we are expecting area wide windy conditions and we have a high fire danger alert in place. Looking at the low 90’s later with perhaps back to triple digits by the weekend. Crap!

After a day of fun at the lake it’s back to chores at home.

80's today, put our horses out on the front pasture yesterday, grass belly high. Might go to range this afternoon. Tomorrow the wife and I are headed to Waterton/Glacier Park for the day, and do some exploring on Cameron Lake via canoe. You can watch grizzlies from relatively safe vantage point....

63 with a nice 8 mph breeze right now .... its supposed to get up to 77 later today on what the forecast terms is going to be a "Partly sunny and delightful" day .... regular breakfast with Folgers flowing through a Bar Harbor, Maine mug .... no major plans for today

Out early this am had to go get one of those phoney emission tests on the Dodge. 70 here now headed for 91 before this day ends.

Another quiet time with a nice cup of coffee.
Will either spray or mess in the garden depending on what the weather man says about rain today. Sprayed yesterday and it worked out. No rain over at the farm where I sprayed but I got a hard shower here at my home farm. ( I prefer no rain on my sprayed job for at least 12 hours ). Always more than you will get done on a farm. I just do what I do..... and no " dangerous leaks in the dam yet" .... but, eventually of course, I will get older and slower and finally croak... but no matter... I will have did what did as best I knew how while on my watch. And then it will be some other fellas job... so coffee up and enjoy the day..

Thunderstorms in the area, got rain last night. Might still go to Waterton Park but a canoe trip may be out if thunderstorms hanging around....

Folgers and a Jimmy Dean sausage and egg on a biscuit. Pretty tasty by golly.
Down in the 50s overnight but bright and sunny now with a high expected of 74.
The funeral yesterday was pretty large. A church full. People are getting back to normal.
He was a vet and the VFW did a grave side ceremony that was awesome.
Then a luncheon of church ladies' food. Not bad.
We got home last night and we were both exhausted. All that family interaction is tiring.
But nice.
Work on the homestead today.

My thermometer showed 60 when I got up but the the official Deer Park low was 50. Felt more like 50 when I sat out on the patio earlier. Very nice!

High today is 89 which is the first forecast under 90 in a couple of weeks.

After a busy day yesterday washing and putting away the trailer and boat plus mowing the lawn and dragging sprinklers around today I’m rewarding myself with a game of golf. Teeing off at 10:37 which is pretty late on a hot day but it’s all we could get. Nice flat course for walking with trees that are magnets to my golf ball so I expect to be in the shade often.

Another rainy day today. The area has officially 22 consecutive days of rain. Cereal, strawberries, biscuits, and coffee for breakfast. Off to the dentist this morning for a scheduled cleaning.

Spray again today.... not tomorrow cause of rain coming in....ok by me....its hot out there and it's time for a rain....... speaking of time...its time for that first cup of the day... h a ve a good one out there everyone!
