Great 5 Days

Post by Headhog » Fri Jun 25, 2021 10:28 pm

My wife and I are motorcycle riders and belong to a riding club called Cruisers USA. The club has chapters in Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and North Carolina. Once a year the club holds a get together referred to as the "Gathering Of Eagles" (GOE). Each year it held at a different location with 50 - 90 members attending. What a wonderful way to meet old friends all with a common interest in motorcycles.

This year we met at the Cannaan Valley Resort in Davis, WV. This was an outstanding location with some fantastic scenic riding roads. We do a lot of riding as groups or individuals and share camaraderie with our members. We set one day aside for motorcycle games (ballon toss, slow ride and blindfold weave for the trike riders) and also a banquet.

Last night we we were on our own for dinner. Most folks were about burned out from eating and drinking too much. We shared a table with some members and everyone ordered a light meal. Afterward we sat outside by a great fire and shared stories of years past.

Sounds like fun, I too like riding scooters.
A lot of Saturdays several of us meet up and ride.
Enjoy the time, and be safe.

Sad but every year there are a few less attending. Last year we lost Rudy who was a pleasure to be around. His wife took up riding and drove his trike to Canaan Valley from Waynesboro, VA to attend.

When I came back from VN I knew there were two things I needed to avoid.
Motorcycles and hand glider or ultra lights.
I take too many risks.
Well, I got a couple of dirt bikes. I was right. I had to get rid of them.
I'm just too reckless. Too man bumps and bruises.
I've managed to stay away from the aircraft though.
I knew too many guys who got killed in light aircraft. In fact another one
died just two months ago. :(
Crashed his aircraft in the woods in front of his home. Engine failed on take off.😒
