Forecast 112 degree
Forecast 112 degree
The forecast is 101 to 104 this weekend and 112 degrees Monday. I've never seen it that hot in Western Washington during my 58 years and I can't remember triple digits this early. The place is a bone dry tinder box.. My dream of a cottage in the woods may go up in smoke

Yikes! That's a little too hot for my old bones. I'd stay inside and try to keep cool.

Re: Forecast 112 degree
Heat wave is broken here and it's raining.
Boy do we need it. The farmers are still running their irrigators in the rain.
I took advantage and washed down the Journey with a brush and soap and let God
do the rinse with soft water.
In for the day now. I guess I'll watch a little NASCAR. They're in Pocono.

We are heading into the 90’s this week. Just cut the lawns for likely last time this summer.

Re: Forecast 112 degree
That is getting warm, hopefully it is just heat, when we got smashed by fire last year it was 115 with less than 10% humidity and 50mph winds.
Humidity and wind are more of a threat with fire than heat hopefully it all goes well for you.

Re: Forecast 112 degree
It's going to take some of those tropical storm systems coming up the East Coast to get my creek running again as it has been dry here other than a few spotty rain showers/ storms.
Re: Forecast 112 degree
We're supposed to hit 116 on Tuesday here in central WA. I see your temps are supposed to be somewhat lower later in the week, we are still going to be at 107 this coming Sat.Oldbrass wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 1:48 pmThe forecast is 101 to 104 this weekend and 112 degrees Monday. The cherry pickers have been starting at 3AM the last few days and using head lamps to pick with until it gets light, they quit picking today before 11AM.
We usually do get some 100 degree days here but not this early, we actually had a couple of 100 degree days a couple of weeks ago which is very unusual. Snow pack is going fast, the creek we irrigate from has dropped considerably so things may get pretty dry. Hopefully we will have enough water to at least keep trees and perennials alive.

Re: Forecast 112 degree
The most I ever felt was 104. That was only 2 or 3 times ever. I cannot imagine 116.
Stay cool.
Hopefully you all have AC and a Generator to power it if the electric fails.

Re: Forecast 112 degree
we've camped in temps from 114 in Vegas to 8 in Eastern NC .... 12 degrees earlier this year in Texas .... from our experience, being out in extreme temps on either end of the thermometer can be serious and most definitely isn't fun
Re: Forecast 112 degree
If Spokane hits the forecast of 111 on Tuesday that will be the all time high temp record by three degrees. Hottest I can remember is 105 and that happened in 2015 on this exact weekend. This weekend is usually the three on three basketball tournament which is held on the streets of downtown Spokane which is the hottest part of the city. In 2015 the event was held and it was crazy hot. Fortunately this year the event was postponed until September due to Covid. But, over in Coeur d’alene ID this weekend is the giant Ironman Marathon and it’s still on. I forget the exact mileage but it’s a long swim in Lake Coeur d’alene, then a bike ride and finally a long run. It’s well over 100 miles (150?) and is an all day event. While the lake would feel good not so much for the ride and run.
Looked it up, here are the mileage totals for the each event:
2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike, 26.2-mile run

Re: Forecast 112 degree
How did the hot days pan out? Hopefully everyone was OK.
After the 115 day when we were smashed with fire and the few warm days either side of it we havent had a day that got past 99.5 in the past 18months.
Pretty normal for us seeing the long term records are only around 10 days a year over 95 and a day about every second year above 104.

Re: Forecast 112 degree
We faired ok, it's dropped down to 107 at 6:35pm. No rain forecast next 10 days and the 4th coming this week. Hopefully everyone uses common sense with fireworks

Re: Forecast 112 degree
Got to 110 here, 8:20 and its cooled off to 88. Tomorrow's supposed to be the hottest day. I hope our county Fire Marshall's here in Eastern Washington would ban all fireworks this year, things are very dry and will be even more dry by the 4th. They did it a few years back when it was really dry and it helped.
There will always be idiots that have no common sense. Unfortunately they can't close down the firework stands on the reservations.

Re: Forecast 112 degree
Yesterday I saw 107 on my thermometer here at home but when I made a trip up the road a few miles during peak heat my car thermo read 105. I think the official high for Deer Park was 105. 110 is today’s forecast and then it will slowly cool down but staying in triple digits until Sunday. While fireworks are outlawed in Spokane County towns can make their own laws and Deer Park does have legal firework sales and use. My wife’s cousin lives on the local golf course and I guess there is quite the display by the locals. We plan to go there this year, might be some gin and tonic involved. Hopefully nobody does anything stupid by lighting fireworks near any dry brush. But, as mentioned several times on this site the 4th of July seems to bring the stupid out in some people.

Re: Forecast 112 degree
The only way I can relate is to recall Vietnam and the temps there.
It would often get in the 130s on the PSP where we worked on our Air Craft.
Course that was a very humid heat and during the monsoon it rained every afternoon.
We didn't have to worry about forest fires.
We ate salt tablets like candy and every morning one of us had to take the 3/4 ton
into the village where there was an ice plant. That was always the job of the new guy.
We would purchase several kilos of ice and several cases of Coke made by the
Indo China Bottling Company. We had a stock tank that we filled with ice and
Coke every morning. Man, that Coke sure did taste good.
