More Home Depot fun...........

Post by fortyshooter » Wed Jun 23, 2021 12:50 pm

Well I have this Dewalt 10 inch compound miter saw and it does have it's limits to size of board it can cut clean like a 2x6 but works great for other use.
So my plan was to upgrade to a larger 12 inch with the slide cross cut ability and give the 10 inch to my son for his upcoming birthday this weekend since the saw is only 2yrs old and in great like new shape and he doesn't have one. They are doing a lot of home improvements right now too.

I look online for the larger DeWalt and find Amazon and HD have the same saw I want but HD states it can be delivered on 6/23 and that would work great. So I place my order couple days ago and get a email that it has been shipped on 6/21 and should have it by 6/23 today by FedEx.

Last night I run the tracking number and it shows a delivery date of 6/23 AFTER they receive it from the HD warehouse. Not good!
I call and talk with the HD people and they say "We will have to talk with our RED team to see why it hasn't gone out to FedEx".

Get an email hour later saying due to warehouse issues it will have an estimated ship date of 8/5 and that isn't going to happen at all!

Just placed another one on order with Amazon with a 6/29 delivery date and hopefully that one will be delivered around that time.

The ol' one hand don't know what the other is doing at Home Depot but they post a date they know they can't keep to get your order!

They don't have one you want at either store? Our local Lowes has a large selection of miter saws, not sure about HD, I don't go their nearly as often.

No they didn't have that one at HD or Lowes.....BUT you won't believe this!!!
I just got another email from HD saying that due to a mix up my order is on it's way and will be here tomorrow. I said what the heck is going on and called the HD lady back to verify. She said she don't know but checked with FedEx and it's on it's way.
I just checked tracking and it's coming and somehow got from Ohio to Maryland within minutes and is headed to Richmond Va. !

So I think I will keep the Amazon order coming too and when I have both in hand give one to my son for his 40th birthday and sell my old 10 inch saw!!

Forty, I owned and used their 12” sliding compound saw for years. The only thing it won’t do is rip. Great tool.
You will both be happy I’m sure.

What model did you get? I have a Craftsman sliding compound saw, without going out to look I couldn't say if it's a 10 or 12 inch, it can cut a 4x4. Set it on the hood of truck prior to putting it away and unfortunately it slid off and broke the handle. Handle is discontinued so I epoxied the heck out of it. It's held up to some light duty and seems pretty sturdy but who knows how long it will last. Been looking at new ones whenever I go to Lowes but it's not something I use a lot and the ones I want to get are naturally the expensive ones.

I bought a Metabo 12" slider from Lowes 3 months ago and like it. Went in last weekend and the same saw is $100 off due to a clearance.

My 10 inch will cut a 4x4 in one cut but not a 2x6. I would get good use out of it as I have with the 10 inch.

You gotta love large corporations. I hope you get the one from Home Depot. During the early days of the Covid Scare last Spring, I got plenty of tools for my stepson via HomeDepot. I liked that they were delivered right to the door. Most were in stock and delivered within a week. Some took two weeks, but all showed up in a timely fashion. Everything showed up when it said it would too, no bait and switch.

Well while I was down at the range my wife called and said a huge yellow box was sitting on the front porch....it arrived.

Going to my son's house tomorrow to help him hang a few new doors and will bring him this new saw as his 40th Birthday present.
The other one coming next week I'll keep for my use.
