At The Beach

Post by Headhog » Sun Jun 20, 2021 8:22 pm

Our son, our youngest child called me a little while ago to wish me happy Father's day. It was wonderful that he called, but the memories he brought back were priceless. He was calling from a campground in Myrtle Beach, SC enjoying a weeks camping with his family. This is something we would do 35 years ago what our children.

Usually at spring break or as soon as school let out, we'd pack up 3 kids and the pop-up camper and drive from New Jersey to Myrtle Beach. At that time our kids were 4, 7, 10 and as a family we had a ball at the beach. The places we traveled up and down the east coast with that at pop-up camper created a lot of memories.

Today it was a FaceTime call so I was able to see him and his family enjoying a vacation as we did. Seeing them brought back all those good times we had 35 years ago as our family grew up.

We did the same, going to South Mrytle Beach, away from the crowds. I'll bet there isn't an area away from the crowds now.
You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

You're right. 35 years ago we would camp at Arrowhead campground on the ocean. That campground is long gone and high rise condos now occupy the site.

Ocean Lakes (our favorite), Lakewood, and Pirate Land are still there and going strong .... understood on the good memories of time spent down there
